It's been a frustrating summer for Shake Shack fans in downtown Bethesda. The opening of the first downtown Shake Shack location at 7535 Old Georgetown Road had been set for June 24, then August, and most recently - according to Google - early September. But the most credible source, the restaurant itself, is now saying the "projected opening" is expected to be September 17. The interior fit-out is complete enough that they've had to put a sign in the window to inform prospective diners that the burger joint is not open for business yet. Here's another sneak peek inside:

It'll be the best burger in Bethesda. While they are very good, I'd actually say that's embarrassing we don't have an even better burger joint and a local one at that. We don't.
I and others prefer the Z.
Five Guys is better than Shake Shack IMO.
Cinco, I am one of the few who went to the first ever Five Guys in Arlington. It blew my mind. What a success that family has had. That being said, Shake Shack is the nearly 2 billion dollar burger joint from the genius restaurateur, Danny Meyer. What's more, their beef comes exclusively from New Jersey and Pat LaFreida whose company supplies the best steakhouses in NYC. Their ingredients are all top notch and their burgers are perfect, juicy and delicious every time. Their fries, on the other hand, aren't great in my view. Five Guys had gotten tired. SS have gotten to that point yet if ever.
