The Jewelry Exchange is gone! A demolition crew has razed the building at 7747 Old Georgetown Road. This is the first of several structures to fall, as the corner with St. Elmo Avenue is prepared for construction of a new apartment tower. No word yet if any of the workers were lucky enough to find one of those "thousands of GIA diamonds" in the rubble...

Not in favor of every corner being turned into a massive, mixed -use building as well as the old charm of Bethesda being erased. But my gosh, is Georgetown Grill horrible. So, that won't be missed..

A little Bethesda History for you- the interesting shape of the windows was a relic of the former tenant Carpet Palace. In the early 70’s this building was a pool hall. After 60 years the old cinderblock box had to go. The rendering of the building that will replace it is spectacular. It can’t get built soon enough.

I've loved going to Georgetown Grill for years. I'll miss it, as will friends.
I too will miss old g-town grill- but after 30 years time for change. The previous tenant repaired type writers. Time waits for no man.
