Yardbird coming to North Bethesda

Yardbird, the Minnesota-based outdoor furnishings retailer, is opening a new location on Rockville Pike at White Flint Station. The space was previously home to City Bikes. 

Yardbird was founded by Bob and Jay Dillon in 2016. It cuts out the middleman by shipping furniture directly from suppliers to its own stores. 

The niche of home patio furnishings seems promising in a pandemic environment, especially as temperatures turn upward for summer. Primarily based in the midwest and Denver so far, Yardbird is now moving into the northeast and Mid-Atlantic with the opening of this location.

City Bikes now open at White Flint Station (Photos)

A new bike shop has opened in the Pike District. City Bikes is now open at 11610 Rockville Pike, in the White Flint Station shopping center. In business since 1988, the regional chain offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on bikes that remain in "like new" condition. City Bikes takes over the space vacated by adult boutique Le Tache last October.

NORTH BETHESDA HOMICIDE INVESTIGATED BY POLICE

Someone (described as a "service worker" by a dispatcher) called 911 Tuesday morning at 10:11 AM to report a death at the White Flint Station condominiums in North Bethesda. Montgomery County Police officers responded to find an unidentified woman apparently stabbed to death, with "trauma to torso," according to the department's Facebook page.

Very few details about the case have been made public, but the victim's 50-year-old female roommate is being questioned by police. The roommate was in the condo when police arrived, but has not been named a suspect. There is apparently sufficient evidence for police to state that the case is "closeable." Investigators say the incident was "not a random act," and that the public should not be concerned. Detectives remained on the scene throughout the day. Stay tuned for further details.
