5 teens charged, one as adult, in violence after BCC-Walter Johnson football game in Bethesda

Five alleged participants in violence after a Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School-Walter Johnson High School football game last Friday in downtown Bethesda have been charged, one as an adult, Montgomery County police announced today. The arrests follow public outrage over a joint letter from Montgomery County Public Schools and the Montgomery County police chief two days earlier, the content of which led many to conclude no charges would be filed in the video-recorded violence, which went viral on the internet and TV news. But the letter noted that a criminal investigation was ongoing, and police said today that they expect more arrests to be made as additional participants are identified.

16-year-old Kharon Crosby of Bethesda has been charged as an adult with armed robbery and second-degree assault. Two other teenagers, aged 15 and 16, have been charged as juveniles with robbery and second-degree assault offenses. Another two 15-year-olds are facing first-degree-assault charges. The armed robbery charge appears to confirm an allegation that one teen's shoes were stolen, and rumors that a weapon was involved in the incident, which took place at the Bethesda Metro Center after the September 1 football game.

Police did not release a mugshot of Crosby. Anyone with additional information or video related to this case is asked to contact the Montgomery County Department of Police 2nd District Investigative Section at (240) 773-6710.

If you saw the video, you might be surprised by the rage of a few of the attackers, you'd never believe one of our fine WJ or BCC kids could be so.

I just looked at the video. What was captured was not a "Jets versus Sharks" type rumble but a kid on the ground getting stomped on. Charges are certainly warranted. I hope the kid on the ground is doing okay. Any word?

Maybe we should be less interested in the -stompee- as we should be in the proliferation and movements of the 'stompers.' There's a lot that needs to be addressed but no real forum is even allowed.

Shoes being stolen is an interesting twist.

8:35 It is the compassionate thing to do to care about the poor kid who potentially suffered life altering injuries. Regarding the stompers they are supposedly BCC students.

"Police did not release a mugshot of Crosby." Why not, charged as an adult? Oohhh, I know why.

Lock 'em up.

The inmates are running the asylum. You can fire someone in government but it rarely happens and it's not easy to do. Expel these criminal youth from a government school? No, you can't do that. Move them to another school? Not much of a solution. These kids are doing drugs in the bathroom and likely engaging in sex acts behind the stage in the theater. And to think these are public high schools in this country that require all to wear a uniform and cut their hair. We live in wacko land.

No description is description enough. The media fostered this probably accurate assumption.

You solved the puzzle 826. Robert you are, apparently, scared of offending your woke overlords. Pity.

I think Robert does an excellent job both in the initial reporting and in posting readers' input. I few of mine, definitely Conservative would be -over the top- anywhere else.

Of course, but there'd be no stompees without stompers and it appears it's spreading and getting worse. I do not believe that organic BCC or WJ kiss steal used shoes. Discuss

Total outlier.

11:02 Total Outlier? You sure? It's happening all over the country, lookee here - security guard got shot in the back of the head - https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12502573/Utica-shooting-school-security-guard.html

I'm sorry, but move the games to Saturday morning, and if the nonsense doesn't stop, cancel the season. Schools are for Reading, Writing, Arithmetic.
