Spanish Diner temporarily closes for renovations at Bethesda Row

Spanish Diner
at 7271 Woodmont Avenue at Bethesda Row will be closed for "a few days" beginning today, Sunday, October 8, 2023. The reason given by the restaurant is that it is pausing operations while its "infrastructure gets upgraded." Chef-owner José Andrés has a track record of closing his restaurants for renovations or makeovers every few years, although Spanish Diner has only been open for a little over two years at Bethesda Row. No set reopening date has been posted by the restaurant, so it appears it will depend on how long it takes to complete the work. Stay tuned for an update.

Can someone comment as to whether this i place is any good? Have not tried it yet. It seems as if they're struggling to get out of the starting blocks after their transition.

Bad Ducking Paella

Hi JAC, I've been there with friends and family a few times, and everyone liked it. We also really like Guardado's on the other side of town. We found service to be good at both restaurants.

We always order a range of items and share. One of the potential "downsides" with tapas is that the bill can add up fast!

Maybe others can share their experiences.

The ole "closed for renovations". Wonder if this concept is done and pivoting to something new.

Hi JAC, No problem! I guess we'll see how things go when the place re-opens :-)
