It was a very short run for Brio's Chicken at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. The Peruvian chicken restaurant opened this past April, and has now closed. Now we can once again hope that this space will one day be filled by Olive Garden, Texas Roadhouse, or Chili's.
Every jurisdiction in America has one of each of those chains, except Montgomery County. A truly bizarre situation, that can be quickly remedied by Westfield. As Montgomery County taxes rapidly go up, and average income level goes down, more and more residents need affordable dining options. The Charlie Palmer Steak crowd has fled for lower-tax points west of the Potomac.

Are you comparing Brio's Chicken to Charlie Palmer's? Also, have you compared Cheesecake Factory's prices in the mall?
They should not have let Legal Seafood escape.
Robert, that space is cursed number one. Number two, the places you mentioned are national chains but not all that good in my opinion and would work better on a stretch of Rockville Pike or Gaithersburg than within the mall. I said it before many times, but a place like Slades, which I believe used to be at the mall, would possibly do well. There's nothing like that and is much needed.
8;06 How are prices at CheeseCF? I noticed Thanksgiving dinners at regular and even the fast casual places were like $40-50 and needed to be ordered in advance. Tastee Dinner had em for $15 and darn good pie too.
JAC, I do hear many positive memories of Slades from people who dined there.
Robert, yes, it was a Houston's knockoff but a darn good one. Think Clyde's or Chadwick's. Same thing. That concept would do very well.
I'm at Montgomery Mall nearly every week, and I never spotted Brio's. Did it have an interior entrance?

I am assuming that Uniqlo is going to take over the space as well. The Express footprint alone is nowhere nearly large enough for a flagship Uniqlo.
Insanely high rent+incredibly slim margins+high labor costs=99% fail rate for a reason. I'm in Hospitality and it's incredibly hard to afford rent that couls be 15-30,000 a week. You'll never see new chains grow when they can no longer affoed to buy or rent their buildings because of how expensive rent and mortgages are.
Wishing Olive Garden and chilis on us is wild. Might as well wish obesity and colon cancer on the population. What they should put there is something that attracts gen z like Korean bbq or hot pot.
