8200 Wisconsin Avenue, a landmark apartment tower on downtown Bethesda's "main street," has gotten a branding makeover. While the iconic "8200" numerals over the entrance remain the same for now, new logos posted at the building and on the internet have added a "W" to read "8200W." The new branding is also utilized on an updated website for the property. Of course, among longtime residents, just saying "8200" is enough that people know which building you are talking about. It's hard to think of another local building with that kind of street-number-only name recognition within a certain geographical area. The closest in my mind would be 5530 and 5454 Wisconsin in Friendship Heights, particularly if you are in the healthcare field as a professional or patient.

Because HOC took over?
How edgy. Surely, that kind of branding will be worth an extra 30% in rental fees.
I'm surprised they haven't caught the feminine name trend in the neighborhood and rebranded as the Ophelia or something similar.
Snarky people are so jealous.
Boards on the window, mail on the floor;
Why would anyone leave so quickly for?
Ophelia, where have you gone?
This building is slated for renovation: "... When complete, 8200 will offer large, luxury units and elevated amenities with 25% of the building designated as affordable housing ..."**
All units in the building before renovation are/were NOAHs (naturally occurring affordable housing) units, so 75% of the existing 246 NOAH units--or 185 units--will be lost and converted into bloated overpriced apartments.
Again, that's a loss of 185 affordable apartments in downtown Bethesda in just one building.
Current pricing: 1 BR/1 BA start, about $1700 (pre-renovation). Renovated 2BR, 1 BA, affordable set-aside starts at $2200. Rent includes utilities (gas, electricity), free surface parking. Pet friendly.
