3rd knifepoint robbery in a month on same block in Bethesda

Montgomery County police responded to a report of an armed robbery in Bethesda early yesterday afternoon, March 16, 2026. The robbery was reported in a parking garage in the 7100 block of Democracy Boulevard at 12:30 PM Tuesday. This is the third armed robbery involving a knife on that block of Democracy in the last month.

The first was reported in the same garage on February 17. Only ten days ago, a second robbery at knifepoint was reported in a parking lot on that block. Montgomery Mall is on the same block, but police have not identified it as the location in any of the three robberies as of this writing. Police have described the suspects in the February 17 robbery only as three Black males in their teens. Both garage robberies took place during daylight hours, an increasing trend in violent crime in Montgomery County.

Just wait for the "coveted" purple line.

Parking garages always feel creepy. Like you are enclosed with bad people and need to find the exit to get away. And no one can hear the shouting...

One of these days these cretins will rob the wrong guy, one that won't be pulled into this chasm of passivity and subordination.

Bernie Goetz?

Nope.

Look. If they continue that darn Purple Line, watch all the crime from the panhandler side of MD come over to Bethesda. Purple Line is bad!!!

These reports, seen nowhere else but here, are a great reminder that everyone needs to have situational awareness everywhere you go. You can't be on your phone or otherwise distracted from your surroundings or simply carrying on as if this is a small town where everything is safe and everyone knows everyone else. It is a very safe area overall, thank goodness. But you have to have your head on a swivel all the time. Sad but great habit to get into.

@5:46 racist dogwhistle, as is standard on this "blog" whenever the purple line is mentioned

This keeps happening because the MoCo power structure is not interested in doing what’s necessary to stop it. It will never change so long as this remains a one-party jurisdiction.

12:08 - Momo, and Marc Elrich is overseas on an economic development trip. True story. You can't make that up. They're totally and completely anti business and yet we pay for his free trip to discuss business opportunities in the county with foreign business leaders? And no, they have not and will not say anything about this crime.

Bethesda is Navy Yard North.

10;22 - And a multi billion project no one can afford and likely the ridership can never pay for in this lifetime.

Unfortunately if one uses force even for legitimate self-defense in MoCo he will most likely be prosecuted, especially if white.

12:06, are you saying that crime numbers on both halves or ends of the PL are equal? Not to worry, eventually they likely will be. Nothing racist in that.

Anonymous said...

12:06 is what's wrong with the left as everything is viewed through a filter that has diluted the very meaning of the word. What a waste.

Police scanners now encrypted so they can try and put a lid on the exploding crime rate in this county.

File a Public Information Act request if you want to get some details of calls to back up your concerns. Its free and easy to do.

We know how keed in Elrich is because he suggested the Purple Line END in 1 Track instead of 2 in Bethesda. Idiotic, from a Logistical point of view !

10:22 what makes me chuckle is imagining all those shoppers returning with their Bang and Olufson and Givenchy bags on the PL and trying to hide them from other peeps 'up to no good.' I doubt the PL will appeal to serious shoppers.

'Real time,' or very recent is important... but no matter what this should all be put out without subterfuge. We elected them and chose this because we're collectively idiots.

1:58 is missing the entire point of 10:22's post. The PL is nothing but a government vanity project that will also funnel criminals to a target rich environment like Bethesda. The paid shills that bloviate about chocolate rivers and gumdrop trees when the PL comes online will probably never use it regularly because they're all busy with new things to spend other people's money on.

Crime is only set to increase even further as the current democrats in charge have no intention of enforcing common sense laws already on the books. The only thing these progressives have been passionate about is to keep parents out of their indoctrination subjects which luckily they lost in SCOTUS because they only seek to rule.

@3:45 PM #1 - Are you basically saying that crime numbers on both ends of the RL are equal? Lame.

@10:22 - Too late for that, Hogans dream is about done.

The Chasm of Passivity and Subordination?
When did that club open in Bethesda?

We need a Luigi in MoCo !

Anonymous said...

"We need a Luigi in MoCo !" - is someone on this blog really advocating for violence...Luigi as in the supposed person who murdered a CEO or do you mean the goofy brother Luigi who helps Mario out? How would either of those two help?

Also the point everyone seems to ignore, did you ever thing maybe easy transportation would mean workers to cater to your coffee demands or bagel demands? Oh no the criminals are going to come to Bethesda and work the jobs the current non criminals work? Are these the same people who complain about no one wants to work anymore? Are these the same people who say rents to damn high? Who are the majority of workers in "menial" jobs - I doubt we have enough in the great area of Bethesda who can afford to work and live here.

@5:48 Actually the point is that you and the people you work and vote for refuse to enforce existing laws so the strawman argument where a leftist commits a targeted assassination leads you to imply that defense of oneself is equivalent. This is truly a failure of the public school system.

@8:29am acktually it is a call for violence. eat the rich. own it, you're showing a perfect example of the failure of MCPS - maybe you didn't grow up here that would explain more.

3:16 Trying to rationalize a poor argument doesn't make the original point more valid but then again, explaining this is wasted bandwidth for someone with chronic TDS.

1:58 AM - I realize that your comment was intended as satire, but all Bang & Olufsen stores in the region closed a decade ago.

Anonymous said...

All the types of folks you mentioned will be at risk of robbery and attack trying to get to their menial jobs in Bethesda since they cannot afford to live here IS the point.

3:04 - One of my first pair of speakers were B&O. Great sounding especially listening to good ole vinyl.

3:21 Fails to understand that the point left the train station a long time ago. The people in charge have no interest in affordable housing outside of a couple of talking points. Out of control spending, cozing up to developers to get campaign contributions plus their little musical chair dance to get around term limits will never have any meaningful change. How much taxpayer dollars were wasted by MCPS to lose at SCOTUS? Rockville and Annapolis don't give a wit about people who actually pay taxes as their using those funds to pay and protect those who shouldn't even be here.

Democrats destroyed Bethesda

5:48, love your concern re: the workers we need here. I take it to also include the poor and deserving we hire to sweep up the litter mostly 'brought in' by non residents that don't care and the thuggish security we need to hire to 'protect' us from more obvious thugs? Should we include them?

Anonymous said...

@6:29 Actually what progressives love is unfettered spending of other people's money. Frankly the "workers" you lament are mere tools that the left uses as props and as long as they stay in their lane, voting the way you want them to, your side is here to grant them entitlements. Democrats are a sad and pathetic bunch who have no idea how to govern and only seek to rule.
