The return of Drybar at Bethesda Row

Drybar
appears to have reopened at 4840 Bethesda Avenue. Like many Drybar locations around the country, it had temporarily closed during the pandemic. Google is still saying the Bethesda Row location is "temporarily closed," but the door was open yesterday.

Construction wall removed at Drybar at Pike & Rose

The construction barrier in front of the future Drybar at Pike & Rose has been taken down. While the salon's interior is still hidden from view, "coming soon" window screens are now installed. Drybar will be located on Grand Park Avenue, next to UNIQLO.

Meanwhile, there are similar window screens announcing the future arrival of Olive & Loom, also on Grand Park Avenue by Francesca's. Olive & Loom is a brand from the owner of Sabun Home at Bethesda Row. Its product line was originally was sold online and through Sabun Home's bricks-and-mortar location on Bethesda Lane, but now will get its own storefront here at Pike & Rose.

Drybar to open at Pike & Rose

Drybar will round out the retail spaces in the ground floor of the Canopy by Hilton hotel at Pike & Rose. The popular blowout salon will open at 11861 Grand Park Avenue next spring. Their 1705 SF space will be next to Sunday Morning Bakehouse and UNIQLO.

This will be only the fifth Drybar in the D.C. area. Drybar pioneered the trend of having adult beverages at salons, which required an update to Montgomery County and Maryland's archaic liquor laws, which became known as "the Drybar bill" when it passed in Annapolis.

DRYBAR ENDORSES ARIANA KELLY AT BETHESDA ROW (PHOTOS)

Drybar, the popular blowout salon on Bethesda Avenue, has placed a campaign sign in its window for Delegate Ariana Kelly (D), who is running for reelection in District 16. Kelly was instrumental in changing state policy that previously forbid the salon from serving alcoholic beverages to customers during their appointments. She drafted what became known as "the Drybar bill," which passed the General Assembly, and was signed into law a few weeks ago by Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.

Drybar will now be permitted to offer beer or wine to customers, as it does at other nationwide locations. Among the other (more typical) political endorsements Kelly has received are those of The Gazette, Montgomery County's teacher's union, the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, the SEIU, Equality Maryland and NARAL Pro-Choice PAC.

The District 16 race has heated up with the late entry of incumbent Bill Frick (D), and a host of other prominent Democrats competing for the 3 delegate seats.

CAN YOU REALLY GET A BLOWOUT AT THE DRYBAR AT BETHESDA ROW BEFORE IT OPENS FRIDAY? MAYBE. [PHOTOS]

Word has been going around Bethesda Row since the weekend that some lucky ladies have been pulled into The Drybar for a free blowout, just because they were walking by.
Well, there are definitely women
in there getting blowouts

Even though it's not Friday yet
It seems there's something of a soft opening going on ahead of the official grand opening Friday.

So if you're going to be at Bethesda Row anyway, it can't hurt to check it out.  Maybe try the door to see of it's open?  Linger around outside for a few minutes.  I don't know what the criteria is - maybe none at all.

But just passing the rumor along...

DRYBAR UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT BETHESDA ROW

Ladies, remember when I broke the story that Drybar was coming to Bethesda Row?

The future location is now under construction.  Yesterday, the blowouts-only salon put up these promotional graphics to cover the drab storefront while the work is done.  And working hard they are behind that wall; there was a lot of activity in there when I passed by.
