The last week has concluded as badly as it began for Bistro LaZeez at 8009 Norfolk Avenue in downtown Bethesda. Last Thursday, the Montgomery County health department
closed the restaurant down. But yesterday, a landlord's complaint filed in the District Court of Maryland stated the bistro has failed to pay rent for several months. A sheriff's summons has been posted in the window. The document declares the restaurant owes $44,433.24 in back rent and late fees, and demands a total of $47,475.24 be paid by the trial date of March 7.

Want to bust on Riemer and the County Council? Take a look at that form -- you cannot file a claim for unpaid rent online. You have to use their special form, which actually has 3 copies (like the old carbon paper style, but with the carbonless paper), and fill it out by hand. It looks like the filing attorney had to use a typewriter to fill it out.
Yes, in this day and age, you need to fill out a paper form to file for unpaid rent with MoCo District Court.
Looks they haven't paid rent for quite awhile. No wonder they quietly closed.

6:28: Excellent point. MoCo is so far behind on the most basic things - everything from the government's operating system, to liquor control to not having upgraded to the new 911 technology (which resulted in two of the Council's constituents dying in 2016 when 911 and AlertMontgomery failed).

I came across an advertisement on Facebook for sale or lease of this place. Assume lease it says. How does that work? Would a new lessee be on the hook for back rent? I don't know why the landlord doesn't knock the whole strip down.
@7:32 Speaking of the DLC, I was in the liquor store today. They publish a free "Montgomery Spirits" glossy magazine. It's available at the front counter. What a waste of taxpayer money.
The owner has the restaurant for sale for like $100k or something. Lol. After talking about how hard it was to make it. High rent. And so on.
