Honest Tea celebrates 20 years in Bethesda (Photos)

It may not seem like it, but Honest Tea has been around for two decades as of this month. The 4827 Bethesda Avenue-based company is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and despite hitting the big time via a partnership with Coca-Cola, people all over the world still see their Bethesda address on each bottle. Honest Tea was launched in co-founder and "TeaEO" Seth Goldman's house on February 2, 1998, less than one mile from their corporate office.

Honest Tea is not "in a partnership with Coca-Cola". They are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coca-Cola. Coca-Cola purchased a 40% stake of the company in 2008, and bought the rest in 2011.

I love honest tea and supporting a brand started in Bethesda!

"Maloney Concrete" = Internet Research Agency

Nothing about the TrueBody soft opening? A homegrown Bethesda business.

The haters and trolls roll in...

9:04: Thanks, Saul Alinsky, for hammering on Every. Fine. Irrelevant. Detail.

10:14: Internet Research Agency. Haven't heard fictional agency names this good since Get Smart. The more details we get, the more ha-ha...believable..ho=ho the allegations are. "I put words and pictures on internet, and Americans believed me!!!" - Actual Russian Spies always leave notes behind in Boris and Natasha-style English after a mission, right?

10:35: Stay tuned.

9:04AM I thought the same thing as I read it. Who now owns it IS relevant. You were incorrect, what you reported was in essence a false statement, a misrepresentation, a lie.

Don't shoot the messenger for pointing it out.

5:20: Classic Saul Alinsky. We all know they were snapped up by Coke. That doesn't mean I have to retell the whole story in fine detail. No, Saul Alinsky, I don't.

"Snapped up by Coke" is not "a partnership with Coca-Cola". And it's not a "fine detail".

"a false statement, a misrepresentation, a lie"
Kind of like that false report elsewhere that Sears was closing...

#UnsignedDyer comments here at 6:27, as "I Remember Giffords" on the next thread at 6:29.

Actually 6:26 AM on the TrueBody thread, just one minute apart. LOL

The investigative team has arrived! Haters gonna hate.

Elsewhere did not report that Sears was closing. I know, reading comprehension is difficult. But it’s true.

Robert Dyer said...

7:59: Actually, they did, before retracting the whole story.

6:34: Sorry, chump. Unlike gutless cowards like you, I actually have my real name - and a picture (is it the same one of me you have on your nightstand?) - on all of my comments.

Anonymous said...

8:06: Actually, they didn’t. And there was no retraction.

I bet the "anonymous" negative comments would read quite different if folks had to include their name and photo.

A little bit of advice to the haters: If you can't link yourself to a particular comment, you probably shouldn't write it.

Saul Alinsky said...

If you say so, Erskine.

Well, Mr Fake Name, Boyce Bowles, I'd rather bet you that the "anonymous" attaboys would read quite different if those folks had to include their name and photo.

Should change his name to "Attaboyce" LOL

Dyer @3:02 AM & again @5:58 AM -- Your comments to the poster @9:04 AM are offensive. Your were absolutely wrong to describe the relationship of Honest Tea and Coca-Cola as a "Partnership". This is not a trivial error. And your response to the poster who made this claim originally is unprofessional, stupid, petty and vile.

Robert Dyer said...

5:18: Kind of like your comment, Anna, er..."Bill Castner." Another Freudian slip from our resident troll trying - and failing - to keep all of his personalities straight. Can we speak to "Wrol" now?

Anna said...

Dyer, you are embarrassing yourself.
For heaven's sake. I'm a short, middle-aged woman who has lived/worked in Montgomery County since 1963.

Embarrassing that I'm living rent free in your mind so much that you're imagining everyone is me.

Because it's always easier to imagine that those that correct you are one paid puppet rather than admit you were wrong. If you don't care to believe it, that's just you looking dumb. Not everyone is a liar. Can I speak to Andy now? Or Tim?

And Dyer once again shows that he does not understand what the term "Freudian slip" actually means.
