DoubleTree Bethesda conversion to The Bethesdan continues (Photos)

Painters changing the exterior color of the DoubleTree Bethesda have moved to the front of the hotel, which is being rebranded as The Bethesdan Hotel. The property will remain in the Hilton hotel group, but is switching to its Tapestry Collection portfolio.

Hummingbirds.
The ruby-throated hummingbird is the only type that breeds in the eastern United States.
The average ruby-throated hummingbird weighs 3 grams. In comparison, a nickel weighs 4.5 grams.
They do NOT flap their wings—they rotate them in a figure 8.

@Anna, I didn't know that about how they fly, thanks for the info!

I adore that new mural. I saw early stages, but I hadn't been down Cordell in a few weeks. I passed by a few days ago and was blown away. I would love to see more art on blank walls!

Suze, me too. We need more murals and art. Could be a draw to Bethesda.

That’s really interesting, Anna!

What happens if the neighbor decides to build up? The mural just gets blocked? The little tavern building is historic right? If you look at the old Bethesda post office they were allowed to build on the rest of the lot around the building.

The original design with the big glass window on the 2nd floor, wood facade, and large front door was so much better! Shame they downgraded the design.
