Sidewalk reopens at 4747 Bethesda Avenue construction site (Photos)

The sidewalk has reopened in front of 4747 Bethesda Avenue at JBG Smith's Class A office building construction site. That's welcome news for pedestrians, who no longer have to detour to the other side of the street.
We're also getting our closest look yet at the sleek lobby, including the security desk having been installed, and the parking garage entrance. Interior construction continues, but at this point presents no danger to those walking on the sidewalk below.

Would be nice if they could get a high-quality, chef-driven restaurant. Bethesda is one of top 10 wealthiest towns in the country and has 50,000 residents, it's embarrassing that the Ruth Chris and Morton's chains are the best it has offer.

I work in Betheda. My colleagues and I are sick of the endless and multiplying construction sites on every, single, block. Impossible to walk anywhere within old or new Betheda without encountering several detours. Betheda is underparked and certainly not pedestrian-friendly. Build a roof over Betheda Avenue and elimate cars. Or at minimum, make it a one-way street! Planning should take a few notes from cities like Beverly Hills on how to create pedestrian and merchant synergy. The difference is that city realized who generated the big money, the merchants who pay the high lease rates. Who knows what kool-aid the County planners gave Bethesda merchants but it’s astonishing they haven’t filed a lawsuit. The county is failing to deliver infrastructure that will support pedestrian consumers.

I'd love to hear what you believe would be a basis for this "lawsuit", and any legal precedent related to it.

6:22 PM - You should start with a basic civics lesson and learn the difference between a city and county, and what defines a "city". Bethesda unlike "Beverly Hills" does not have an actual city with a governing body that make rules. Here it all falls under MoCo, learn more about your surroundings.

Anyone can make a typo, omit an apostrophe, and so forth.

But misspelling "Bethesda" four times out of the five times you typed it? And misspelling it in exactly the same way? C'mon, that's an indicator of brain damage.

6:22 First of all, it's totally false that there's construction on "every, single, block". Second, Beverly Hills is hardly more pedestrian friendly than Bethesda. Crossing Wilshire isn't any easier than crossing Wisconsin. BH has superior retail options (especially since the Collection in Friendship Heights stupidly decided to kick out all their tenants) but it's about the same pedestrian-wise.

I don't understand how Betheda Guy has the notion that "Betheda" Avenue is pedestrian-unfriendly. Car traffic moves very slowly on that block and pedestrians cross wherever they please. If anything, it is "car-unfriendly". But that's OK by me.
