Big Al's Subs and Soups opens at Montgomery Mall (Photos)

Watch out in the Dining Terrace at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda: Big Al is in the house. Big Al's Subs and Soups has just opened next to McDonald's in the food court. Tomorrow's unseasonal forecast aside, we are definitely in the season for hot soup.

Subs can be toasted, and they have Mambo sauce. Can Big Al muscle past Subway? We'll find out soon enough. Big Al's tuna is real!

Looks absolutely disgusting. This place looks like it was ripped from the mall scenes in Fast Times at Ridgemont High

I walked by today. The menu seemed boring. I skipped it. Is this place "known" for some special type of sub?

@5:40 AM: Clearly you're the competition for Big Al... perhaps the local Subway Franchisee?

7:39: I believe this is the first Big Al's to open anywhere, so we'll have to watch for the reviews to see if there's consensus about a top sandwich choice here.

SOOOO not worth the money. I got the BLT. By the time I added other vegetables, my $7.93 small sub cost $9.00 (tax included in both figures). It says "DOUBLE the bacon", but I would HATE to see what they thought a single portion of bacon looks like! It was one thin layer of bacon that barely covered the roll. I had to tell her which slices of tomato I wanted because they were so mealy. The bins are so cold that they are literally freezing with ice. Subway would have been a better choice.
