The theme this week inside the new Trader Joe's at 7900 Wisconsin Avenue is wood, in keeping with the standard interior aesthetic of the chain's stores. There's more woodworking going on in there than in Roy Underhill's workshop. Wood on the walls, wood displays, and wood accents being added to refrigerator cases and other grocery infrastructure that was already in place for weeks.
I see a can of that blue paint that has been used on the interior walls of the store. Trader Joe's logos have been added to the top of the checkout cash registers. Nonetheless, the pace of construction has been decidedly slower in recent weeks, after a speedy start. The existing Trader Joe's at 6831 Wisconsin Avenue remains open for business.
