Model homes open at new Toll Brothers development in Bethesda


Toll Brothers
has opened model homes to the public at its new Amalyn development, now under construction on the former site of the WMAL transmission towers in North Bethesda. All homes in the development are priced over $1 million. The 75 acre community will include a 4,000-square-foot clubhouse, indoor and outdoor fitness facilities, club rooms for social events, a swimming pool with private cabanas, and more. Tours of the model homes are available at the Amalyn sales center, located at 6940 Greyswood Road.

"Our new Amalyn community is a rare find; it’s luxury living at its finest with expertly crafted homes and a resort-style living experience that home buyers have come to expect from Toll Brothers," Toll Brothers D.C. Metro Regional President Eric Anderson said in a statement. "Our Fairlane and Florin model homes showcase the refined modern finishes that truly distinguish this boutique community of luxury homes in Bethesda."

Sounds like the name of this development is a homage to the sites former occupant. "Amalyn", WMAL AM.

Hope the sound barriers work. Otherwise, this is going to be very noisy place to live. Even more so in the Winter without leaves on the trees.

You know what was rarer still? A large parcel of undeveloped land on which people could wander and enjoy some brief respite from the onslaught of rapacious developers.

Yes, why enjoy the 500+ acres of forest next door at Cabin John when it'd be so fun to "wander and enjoy some brief respite" on a completely empty plot of land in the middle of 270 and 495. I also like hanging out in the middle of active airport runways instead of at Rock Creek park.

I hate rapacious developers! It should be illegal to turn this empty, useless piece of land into a neighborhood that hundreds of people can enjoy and live in. I applaud 2:21 for not living in a house built by a developer and instead laying on the ground in the elements as god intended.

The WMAL cell tower field was not exactly a well maintained piece of open space, but open space land it was, and the community had many uses for it especially the local running community as well as dog owners. While it doesn't make sense for the whimsy of a few local groups to supersede development opportunities for such a large space, I had hoped that Toll Brothers would have at least considered keeping some resemblance of the perimeter trail that everyone used in their development plans. e.g. they have their home development, but have something like a biking trail continuous around the perimeter

$1,600,000 wow! So there will be no entry level or moderately prices houses($300,000) in this luxury development? Is not there an affordable rule?

7:54 - Gotta keep out the riff-raff, don'tcha know. Plus all those developer campaign donations don't get spent by themselves!
