These are sad times to be a deep dish pizza fan in Bethesda. First UNO Pizzeria & Grill closed in the Apex Building. Then we traded Chicago for St. Louis with deep dish pizzas from Pi Pizzeria in April 2016. Now Pi Pizzeria has posted a sign that this Friday, February 2, 2018, will be their last day in Bethesda.
They had a great product, and a good location if you knew there was ample public parking hidden behind the building. Pi Pizzeria, which gained fame as a favorite of President Barack Obama's, has one remaining area location, at 910 F Street N.W. in the District.

Awful pizza. Awful location.
They had very good food, but the location was not great, despite the parking lot. People do not want to cross Wisconsin Avenue.
Sad times indeed I do agree with that, but wasn’t UNOs closed a long time ago?
5:55: From a walking standpoint, I agree with that 100%.
6:21: Yes.
Need to bring back Shakey's!
I preferred the pizza place that used to be in the same spot. Haven I think it was? More kid-friendly.
Anyone know how Villain and Saint next door is doing? The windows have posters in front of them, so I can never easily look in to see if they have customers or not.
Seems like every morning Robert Dyer is reporting on a big restaurant closure!
More to come, I'm sure.
Yeah, the location wasn't that good from a walking standpoint. I live by the Metro and never bothered to go up there.
7:05am: V&S thrives because it's Wiedmaier's pet project and he spends a lot of time there, which means it probably gets kickbacks from the backroom cocaine dealing. LOL.
Funny how 9:07 completely ignores the attack on a local businessman at 8:05.
9:31 - 8:05's comment could be filed under "open secret."
My fav Wiedmaier and drugs story is when he lamented to the City Paper that cocaine was now considered passe in the industry!
So I'm reading over at dcrtv.com and see this headline
"Maryland News Network Adds Bloomberg"
And for one brief, fleeting moment my mind read that wrong...
12:07 PM "What would Bethesda Magazine do?" is the question no DC area journalist or blogger has ever asked themselves.
Totally bummed about this. I thought the location was very good, as I was driving and parking behind it. However, like 705AM, I was an even bigger fan of Haven. Not sure where to get great pizza in the Bethesda/North Bethesda area now. I like PizzaCS a lot, but it's not for everybody, my wife doesn't care for it. Matchbox is always too crowded and expensive. To me, none of them hold a candle to Haven.
Altari Brothers on Cordell former Mia's.
Very sad to learn about Pi. Great pizza, great apps. Liked Haven, too, but Pi was even better.
Yeah I'd say Alatri (former Mia's) is the best pizza option in Bethesda in terms of quality and price ratio. It's also kid-friendly which is important in my case, dining out with preschoolers.
