Montgomery County police have arrested three suspects in connection with the homicide that occurred at the Shops of Wisconsin at 6831 Wisconsin Avenue the evening of December 20, 2021. Officers responding to the scene at 8:15 PM that night found a deceased male in a stairwell at the mall, which houses a Target and Trader Joe's grocery store. The victim's identity has not yet been released by police.
Detectives have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male with first-degree murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. Kevin Lewis of ABC 7 reports that the three suspects currently reside at the National Center for Children and Families' shelter on Greentree Road in Bethesda. Montgomery County is one homicide short of an all-time record this year, having now tied the 1994 high of 34, Lewis noted.

It was long road to get to this point, but think about how many people and systems failed these youths along the way for this to happen. What a terrible shame. I hope justice is served quickly.
Say what you will about lousy police response to auto thefts, give the MCPD credit for getting these b*st*ds quickly.
And no word from Elrich on this I predict. That place should be shutdown immediately. Clearly, that is not a well run facility. What a joke. Bethesda becoming Silver Spring?

Last time I remember a murder in Bethesda was at Lululemon several years ago.
MCPD does a good job, but in this case it fell into their lap. One of the suspects came to the station to confess.
BB blocks comments on all stories involving crime, lest people start commenting on a pattern of who commits the majority of crimes (demographically). That's also why they don't publish mugshots.
All 3 suspects lived at the Greentree shelter. Isn't that where the Whitman student lived who assaulted another student with a frying pan at school a few years ago?

Probably. That shows you pretty clearly that the place should be closed. It never should have opened there in the first place.
@5:53 PM: BB blocks reader comments on crime stories because it would rather report its version of the news without its readership challenging the narrative they're selling. It's shameful how unethical this is. When you can't challenge it, it's not news.... It's propaganda. So don't call them newspeople. They are "propagandist content creators", a title they so richly deserve.
