Signage installed at Marriott Bethesda Downtown hotel (Photos)

Signage has been installed at the new Marriott Bethesda Downtown hotel at 7707 Woodmont Avenue. There's still some Tyvek-like material covering the edge of the canopy below the large logo sign above the hotel's main driveway, suggesting something more will be installed or uncovered there. In related news, Bethesda Beat reports that the hotel's opening date is now targeted as March 1, 2022, instead of January.

Thanks for the photos! That paper is a protective film that comes on the metal panels, and is removed after installation.

The signs look nice, and really activate the street. I assume the big Marriott signs at the top of the HQ will be internally illuminated in white, in addition to the colorful back lighting on the largest south facing sign.

That rooftop bar has the potential to become a Bethesda top nightlife spot, especially for the over-30 crowd. The current options (Caddies, Tommy Joe's) trend a bit young and their drink selection reflects it too.

@5:54PM They don't want to draw the current version of Tommy the Match Maker crowd to that elegant spot. Sorry to omit your form of passe' entertainment.

Hotel bars always seem to be desolate and have the moribund feel of a convention center. I don't see these places as attracting locals, but more of the traveling salesperson who needs to use their per diem for food/drink. If this rooftop bar can actually become a go-to destination, I'll be amazed. I have a hard time seeing this happen.

5:54 PM makes perfect sense here. That's the only way this bar will actually succeed. Otherwise, it'll just be a pass-through for people who don't actually want to be traveling and who need a drink.
