Montgomery County police responded to a report of a burglary at a home in the exclusive Kenwood neighborhood of Chevy Chase Thursday afternoon, July 2, 2026. The burglary was reported at a house in the 5200 block of Dorset Avenue at 5:09 PM. Officers responding to the scene found evidence of forced entry at the home.

Battery Park or Battery Lane Park? I have noticed 2 homeless hispanic/middle eastern sketchy characters sleeping on the benches and pathway and grassy areas behind Sussex House & the workout equipment urinating in plain view of the kids riding their scooters and at the playground.
Battery Park on the other side of OGR. Almost nightly there are roving singles & pairs physically checking car door handles and using flashlights to see if they need to break glass. They know they're on camera but don't care. According to some other neighborhood listserves this is happening all over although not as frequent in Edgemoor due to private security.

I would post some facial shots, (some full but mostly face covered), from Greenwich Forest but the love of criminals by this council would make sure I'm the one prosecuted.
There is nothing illegal about checking door handles. We really don't know for sure any one individual would actually go into one's car, and that doesn't mean they'd actually steal anything. Its easy to jump to conclusions and condemn innocent young kids.
I've comments on this silly-assed theory of fear before, but apparently you idiots of fear have no logic in your walnut shell. What criminal, right-mind or not, would get off the "PL" walk, bus, Uber, etc., to a neighborhood, walk the distance in, rob it, and attempt a get-away. NONE! Wake the F up!
8:51 is exactly why there are problems with theft today. Is there a valid reason why someone would be checking door handles and looking into cars between 1-4am? Technically trespassing if they are not on the street but go ahead and make excuses. Now I know why they elect idiots in this state because the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
