Dunkin' Donuts opens at Chevy Chase Lake (Photos)

Dunkin' Donuts
has opened its newest Montgomery County location at the Giant gas station at 8500 Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Lake. It is located by the future Purple Line bridge over Connecticut, and in front of the Crescent at Chevy Chase apartments. Operating hours for the store are 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM, seven days a week. That will cover donuts and coffee for both rush hours, and potentially some sticky fingers aboard the Purple Line - whatever year it opens.

New signage installed at Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins in Bethesda (Photos)

New lighted logo signage has been installed at the Dunkin' Donuts-Baskin Robbins store at 4905 Cordell Avenue in Bethesda. This store was recently renovated just two months ago, but retained the same exterior signage it has sported for over a decade. The new signs reflect the latest branding and logos for both chains, dropping the "Donuts," and with the number 31 visible within the Baskin Robbins logo. As the local franchisee has renovated its Bethesda locations, it has installed the shorter "Dunkin'" branding signage at each one. Personally, I will call Dunkin' Donuts just "Dunkin'" when I start calling White Flint "North Bethesda" - which will be never.

Out with the old...
...and in with the new.

Dunkin' Donuts opening soon at Chevy Chase Lake (Photos)

It's (almost) time to make the donuts. The new Dunkin' Donuts store inside the Giant gas station at 8500 Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Lake looks like it is on the verge of opening. All the equipment, signage, and electronic menu screens are in place. The exterior sign that was installed last month is now hooked up and lit at night. Stay tuned for an opening date!

Renovated Dunkin' Donuts reopens in Bethesda

The Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins at 4905 Cordell Avenue has reopened for business. It had been closed for about a month for renovations. This is the second downtown Bethesda Dunkin' Donuts store to be renovated this year. Yesterday, the Dunkin' Donuts portion of the shop was operational, but it looked like the Baskin Robbins area wasn't quite ready yet. Dunkin' Donuts celebrated a decade at this location this past spring.

Cordell Avenue Dunkin' Donuts closes for renovations in Bethesda

The Dunkin' Donuts/Baskin Robbins at 4905 Cordell Avenue in downtown Bethesda is temporarily closed. A renovation project has begun to update the interior of the store. The franchisee just completed a similar refresh of the Bethesda Metro Center Dunkin' Donuts location. Customers are being redirected to the Metro Center and 4943 Elm Street locations during the closure.

Dunkin' Donuts "coming soon" at Chevy Chase Lake

Dunkin' Donuts
is "coming soon" to the Giant gas station at 8500 Connecticut Avenue, in front of the Crescent at Chevy Chase apartments at Chevy Chase Lake. That's what the new banner placed out front promises. Permanent signage has also been installed on the building. In addition to a picture of a refreshing iced coffee, the banner also notes that they are hiring for all positions.

Friendship Heights Metro Dunkin' is chain's first exclusively-walk-up location in Maryland

The new Dunkin' Donuts at 2 Wisconsin Circle at the Friendship Heights Metro station already stood out as unique for its tiny size, compared to other Dunkin' stores. But the store has another distinction that sets it apart, according to franchisee Luis Group of Bethesda. This is the first and only Dunkin' store in the entire State of Maryland to operate only via a walk-up window. Orders can be placed at the store's Walk-Up window, or ahead of time via the Dunkin' app to be retrieved at the Pick-Up window.

Despite its small size, the store offers the full Dunkin' menu. It employs 15 people, and is open daily from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Like the chain's full-size Next Gen stores, it features the Premium Pours tap system, and "DD Green Achievement" appliances and environmentally-friendly features that are about 33% more energy efficient than previous Dunkin' store models.

More signs of Dunkin' Donuts at Bethesda Metro and Chevy Chase Lake

Local Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Luis Group Management is busy near the the first two stops of the future Purple Line. New signs have been installed at the Bethesda Metro Center store, which recently underwent a remodeling. The new signage reflects the brand's recent shortening of the name to just "Dunkin'."

Meanwhile, construction on a completely new Dunkin' Donuts is nearing completion over at the Giant gas station at 8500 Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Lake. You can see how easy it will be for residents of the new Crescent at Chevy Chase apartments right behind there, at 3929 Landmark Court, to grab a donut and coffee on their way to the Purple Line station in the morning.

Dunkin' Donuts reopens at Bethesda Metro Center

Dunkin' Donuts
has reopened at the Bethesda Metro Center. The store temporarily closed for renovations earlier this month. It appeared to have permanently closed at that time, as there was no message to customers posted, the windows were covered with paper, and Dunkin' Donuts removed the location from its national website. The Bethesda Metro Center store has now reappeared on the website's "Find Your Nearest Dunkin' Location" page.

UPDATE: Dunkin' Donuts to reopen at Bethesda Metro Center

UPDATE - September 10, 2024: I have been informed that the Bethesda Metro Center Dunkin' Donuts is temporarily closed for renovations, and will reopen this Friday, September 13, 2024, despite no signage notifying customers of this, and the removal of the location from the national website.

Dunkin' Donuts has closed at the Bethesda Metro Center. The store has been closed in recent days, and men have been working inside, but no sign was posted to inform customers about the closure. However, Dunkin' Donuts has now removed this location from its website. Dunkin' Donuts recently opened a new kiosk one stop south on the Red Line, at the Friendship Heights Metro station.

The donut and coffee chain retains two publicly-accessible shops in downtown Bethesda, at 4905 Cordell Avenue, and at 4943 Elm Street. A third store at Naval Support Activity Bethesda (a.k.a. the Naval Base) is not accessible by the general public. The Bethesda Metro Center Dunkin' Donuts opened in 2014.

Dunkin' Donuts Friendship Heights Metro station construction update (Photos)

The new Dunkin' Donuts in the bus bays at the Friendship Heights Metro station in Chevy Chase appears to be on-schedule for a late-summer opening. Virtually all of the kitchen equipment is installed. The Premium Pours tap system is visible in the tiny building, which is essentially a glorified kiosk with ordering and pickup windows. "It's (almost) time to make the donuts!"

Dunkin' Donuts colors appear at Chevy Chase Lake gas station

The familiar color scheme of Dunkin' Donuts has appeared on parts of the Giant gas station at 8500 Connecticut Avenue at Chevy Chase Lake. According to major area Dunkin' Donuts franchisee Luis Group Management, a Dunkin' store is being added to the gas station building. The gas station itself will continue to operate as usual when the Dunkin' Donuts opens. So keep saving those Giant gas points!

Tiny Dunkin' Donuts to open in Friendship Heights Metro station bus bays area

A tiny Dunkin' Donuts store is being constructed in the bus bays area of the Friendship Heights Metro station. The shop has a takeout window, and is just feet away from buses arriving and departing from the station. Dunkin' Donuts opened a more-traditional storefront at the Bethesda Metro Center, in the former Clark Building, just over a decade ago in February of 2014. Remember, no eating or drinking on Metro!
