Tako Grill closes in Bethesda

Tako Grill has closed at 4914 Hampden Lane at the Shoppes of Bethesda. The sushi restaurant had a successful ten-year run after moving to the Shoppes in 2015. An unidentified restaurant space at the property had recently been put on the market for lease, and now it's clear which space it is. "We are deeply grateful to our community for your loyalty and support over the years," Tako Grill said in a message to customers posted in the window. "It has been an honor to serve you."

Daissai Sake tasting event August 3 at Tako Grill

Tako Grill is hosting a free sake tasting event this Thursday evening, August 3, from 6:00-8:30 PM. It will feature 5 Daissai sakes, including Daissai 23, 39 and 50.

The tasting is free, but you must RSVP to tako@takogrill.com by Tuesday, August 1. Tako Grill is located in the Shoppes of Bethesda at 4914 Hampden Lane. Parking is available in the lot in front of the restaurant.

Tako Grill closed its 7756 Wisconsin Avenue location in February, and had originally hoped to reopen in its new Hampden Lane spot in March. Things did not go quite as planned, however.

But the Japanese restaurant and sushi bar has now finally reopened at the Shoppes of Bethesda on Hampden Lane.

Their original space on Wisconsin Avenue was to have been demolished for a Westin hotel and office project. That project has fallen behind schedule - bigtime. The hotel was supposed to open this year!

Former Tako Grill space for lease in Bethesda, Westin hotel project falls further behind schedule

Tako Grill is preparing to open in its new location on Hampden Lane this month, but its original spot is up for lease at 7756 Wisconsin Avenue. Seeking a new tenant is more evidence that the Westin Bethesda hotel and office building project continues to be delayed for reasons not made public so far. The Westin hotel was supposed to open this year, so this project is majorly behind schedule at this point. 

LAST CALL AT CURRENT TAKO GRILL LOCATION IN BETHESDA

Tako Grill is getting ready to say goodbye to its current 7756 Wisconsin Avenue location, which will in the future be replaced by a large development with a Westin Hotel. Before it moves to the Shoppes of Bethesda on Hampden Lane, the Japanese restaurant will serve a Last Buffet this Saturday, February 21, from 4:00-9:00 PM.

The price of the buffet will be $35 if you are over 12, $20 if you are age 6-12, and free if you are under 6. Tax and tips will be extra.

Contacted yesterday, the restaurant says it does not have a specific opening date nailed down for the new location yet, but is expecting to open sometime in March.

Tako Grill confirms it is now aiming for a February opening in the Shoppes of Bethesda on Hampden Lane. The relocated Bethesda Japanese restaurant and sushi bar has also applied to move its liquor license over to the new spot.

Coming Soon signage is up in the window at the new location of Tako Grill in Bethesda, in the former Hinode space at the Shoppes of Bethesda, on Hampden Lane. The restaurant says it plans to open in December at the new space, after development forced it out of its original location at 7756 Wisconsin Avenue. That building is one of several to be replaced by a project that will include an office building and a Westin Bethesda hotel.

Tako Grill's menu will remain the same at the new location, they confirmed last evening.
