A longtime French video store at 4930 St. Elmo Avenue has applied for a construction permit from Montgomery County's Department of Permitting Services, for alterations that will transform the space into a dance studio. The business owner says Serpentine Dance Studio will open in July.
Francophile videophiles can still buy videos online at Francevision.com in the meantime.
I do recall borrowing a few VHS tapes from this store when I took Carribean Literature in college, because there were Carribean movies in French that could not be found at Blockbuster or Potomac Video. At that time, the store was at its original Landow Building location one block up St. Elmo.

Surprised they lasted as long as they did! VHS!
"When I took Caribbean Literature in college"
LOL, dilettante.
6:48: Nice try, knucklehead. I majored in Latin American history and graduated Cum Laude. Not surprising you criticize college education, when your guys on the County Council are trying to divert lower income children from college to Hamburger University. Shameful. Unlike them, I don't think watching Maid in Manhattan makes one an expert on Latino issues.
Looks like you've put that degree to really good use. LOL
What does one do with a degree in Latin American History? Inquiring minds want to know.
Watching French VHS tapes doesn't make you an "expert on Latino issues", LOL.
If a straitjacketed hyena could post comments, those comments would resemble the ones posted here at 6:28, 6:14, and 8:29.
So what did you do post graduating college with your degree? Just curious about you.
9:08: Have you asked all the other local reporters about their resumes? I'm sure they're all more substantial than Hans Riemer's unvetted resume. Can you believe he made it through 2 election cycles without the Washington Post vetting his resume, or investigating his massive contributions from Wall Street crooks who caused the recession, and pioneers in outsourcing American jobs to China like Bain Capital and Danaher Corporation? Just curious.
I'm just curious actually what you do for a career or living.
Actually it's quite fitting to ask just you. Your comments always allude to others being inferior and making poor or illogical decisions and stating your opinion as better. So by your own admission and definition you are a standard above the rest. So yes sure we are asking about your credentials above and beyond out questions for them.
And why be so defensive anyway? Take a question on its own, directed towards you, without being immature about it and redirecting and making it about someone else.
Be a man and take responsibility of yourself for a change.
6:05: "George P."? As in George P. Bush? You mean "be a man" like a cowardly, anonymous troll commenting on a blog all day? That's a "real" man, alright.
Right, because I'm a commentor on your blog and I'm a cowardly anonymous troll. Seriously getting tired of your rhetoric.
8:36: What is your specific beef with me that justifies, in your opinion, your idea that people should be more skeptical of me - a lifelong resident whose background has been reported by the media in 3 elections - than a carpetbagger councilmember who you pay $130,000 a year to oversee a $5B+ budget, who was elected via massive out-of-state donations from Wall Street crooks and their lobbyists, and health insurance industry lobbyists?
What about my "rhetoric" do you disagree with? Do you favor sidewalks being closed in downtown Bethesda? Do you think MoCo should put out-of-town developer profits first, and allow students to continue to take gym class in hallways at Pyle MS? I'm not sure I'm following your logic.
"Randall"?
Lol @ Robert complaint about anonymous posters and then assaulting those who leave their names. What else do you want them to do? Lol.
7:34: Unfortunately, Randall's comment sounds exactly like one posted repeatedly by "Anonymous".
Hehe and that's dyer's type of proof. :). Keep up the good work!
Seems a lot of readers just seem to agree with "Randall" hehe
"[Riemer] was elected via massive out-of-state donations from Wall Street crooks and their lobbyists, and health insurance industry lobbyists"
Which is more valuable - a $500 donation from Bain, or having Dyer as one's opponent? I say the latter.
11:49: Only in "Randall"'s mind. "Heh-heh."
3:14: Control of the media helps, oh, just a little bit, too.
You make it sound like he's all powerful. :) thought you didn't like the guy?
Robert seems to be the one with issues in his head about fanciful conspiracies anongst his readers and the government.
Amazing how an "out-of-state carpetbagger" can instantaneously and totally "control the (local) media", isn't it?
6:53: Wall Street money is power.
