Bethesda construction update: 2nd District police station (Photos)

Construction continues at a slow pace at the future Montgomery County 2nd District police station on Rugby Avenue. It also structurally looks different from the high-rises - and even some of the stick-built mid-rises - you see going up around the county. I'll have to defer to one of our resident architecture experts to explain why that is.

If you take a picture of a construction site at 6:00 on a Sunday morning, of course it's going to look like a "slow pace".

You mean because it's steel-frame instead of concrete or wood? Or am I missing what you're referring to?

9:10: I think that's a major part of it.

Based on the rendering in the last photo it looks like one of those sad concrete monstrosities we saw a lot of in the 70's & 80's. Seems like we could've done much better.

It appears more like a military bunker. Maybe that's what they're going for?

City of Rockville did a better job making their new station.

Just like a real journalist to ask his readers instead of doing the research himself.

Even if someone wrote an answer, Dyer wouldn't believe him anyway.
