Auburn Professional Building in Bethesda to be redeveloped (Photos)

A notice appeared in front of the Auburn Professional Building at 4915 Auburn Avenue yesterday announcing the owner's intention to redevelop the site with a mixed-use residential building. The preliminary and sketch plans are proposing up to 175,000 SF of "residential and non-residential" development. A public meeting on the project will be held on March 1, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center at 4805 Edgemoor Lane in West Room A.

Seems like every morning I get up, make my coffee, and Robert Dyer is reporting on another new development in Bethesda!

7:42 That was reported yesterday by BB

Roald likes his morning coffee at least one day old, reheated.

Robert Dyer's reporting is like a fine wine - it improves with age.

Any report on the security incidents and protests at the high schools in our County this week, Mr. Dyer?

How do you do, fellow kids?

Saw Bethesda magazine reported this yesterday. Any citation, Robert?

Dyer Warning! Business Notes: Is Montgomery County the Economic Engine of Maryland?
"Poll finds Marylanders don’t consider Baltimore city the economic engine of the state." So much for MORIBUND HUH!

1:26 PM If you're nominating yourself for the Edward R. Murrow award for breaking development meeting sign news, I don't think the category exists.

But it’s laughable that Robert considers himself quite the journalist for noticing development signs as he meanders around Bethesda. Even so, he wasn’t first to report. Rest assured he will probably delete all these comments soon enough.

5:21pm I'm sure your mom is proud you posted about seeing a sign before Robert. She probably framed your blog post!

Robert,

Bethesda Magazine reported this news yesterday:

http://www.bethesdamagazine.com/Bethesda-Beat/2018/Multifamily-Housing-Development-Could-Replace-Professional-Office-Building-in-Downtown-Bethesda/

Robert Dyer said...

6:10: Why didn't you comment on their article that they should have credited the person in the Facebook group who first drew attention to the sign, as you falsely did here a few days ago?

9:18: Yep, we all saw the sign on Auburn Avenue. Pulitzer stuff, for sure.

10:02: I thought child labor was illegal in this country.

Robert Dyer said...

1:55: You should have read the article before commenting. It actually is quite accurate in noting what I have many times - A) that the income reported by MoCo residents is most often coming from jobs located outside of the County in Northern VA or DC, and B) MoCo is not the economic engine of the state, but rather, the TAX ENGINE of the state.

We pay a lot of taxes - that's not economic development, meaning we are still officially moribund.

"We pay a lot of taxes"

"WE"???

Local media 2018 A.D. (After Dyer) means folks run around town, stressing about taking photos of signs

"MoCo is not the economic engine of the state, but rather, the TAX ENGINE of the state."

This is among your dumber statements. Higher income = higher income taxes received. Montgomery County has the same income tax rate as Baltimore City, Howard County, Prince George's County, Queen Anne's County, Somerset County, and Wicomico County.

@ 10:02 AM asked: "Any report on the security incidents and protests at the high schools in our County this week, Mr. Dyer?"

Dyer responded @ 10:48 PM: "I thought child labor was illegal in this country."

So Dyer has bought into the "Crisis Actors" calumny.

Let's just jump ahead and put nuclear weapons in the schools. Rather than waiting for the inevitable escalation of weapons over time, let's just get to the only possible conclusion.

These children have known schools shootings their entire life. Their ENTIRE lives. It's a new generation and a new mindset. While the politicians think of school shootings as a "new thing," to these kids it's been constant and always and they are determined for change.

11:54 AM What does that have to do with a development meeting sign?

Anna said...

Nothing. I was commenting to 8:16.

It's funny how Robert Dyer and his surrogates boast of "County residents marching in the streets", regarding the one or two dozen old white NIMBYs marching in Westbard last year, while completely ignoring the several hundred young Montgomery County residents who marched this week.

Steve said...

I'm marching too...got my pink pussyhat out of storage.

Robert Dyer said...

8:03: That was among YOUR "dumber statements," Mr. Dumberer. First of all, we pay property, energy, sales, cell phone, and many other taxes and fees to MoCo and MD besides income taxes. You make it sound like income taxes are the only burden on MoCo residents.

Second, as far as what the state collects in income taxes, it doesn't matter what the rate is - we pay far more than Baltimore because there is more income being earned here.

You have missed the whole point of the discussion - the politicians are trying to equate the payment of draconian taxes with booming economic development, which is patently absurd.

Anna said...

Well, you are the epitome of "patently absurd"

The building is plain and it will not be a loss. A new building may add some life to that area.
