Bethesda demolition update: Bethesda Court Hotel (Photos)

Demolition of the vacant Bethesda Court Hotel has begun on Wisconsin Avenue. Here are some photos taken over the course of this week. The old motel is being torn down to make room for the new Marriott headquarters, which will relocate from the Rock Spring area of Bethesda.

From Dyer's EastMucus blog:

Robert Dyer: "I don't think I've seen anything like it in Montgomery County so far, in terms of the horizontal length."

Anonymous March 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM

"'Length' is by its very nature 'horizontal'. There is no such thing as 'vertical length', which would be 'height'."

Robert Dyer March 29, 2018 at 12:53 AM
"Which is why I said horizontal length, Einstein."

"'Length' is by definition horizontal. There is no other kind, Birdbrain. 'Horizontal length' is as redundant as 'vertical height'."

48 hours later, you still don't know the difference between horizontal and vertical. Total moron. No wonder your boss Helpless Hans Riemer fails at everything he attempts.

Mr. Dyer: Why do you feel it is appropriate to use phrases such as "girly man" to insult your readers, as you do on your Rockville blog?

Hans is pretty dumb, though. I don't think he means any harm, though. He just lacks the foresight to understand the consequences of his actions.

In the very unlikely event that Robert Dyer is elected to the Council, I am curious as to what he hopes to be able to accomplish with Tom Hucker, Sidney Katz, Nancy Navarro, Hans Riemer, and Craig Rice re-elected to the Council, three new Democrats elected to the Council, and George Leventhal elected to County Executive.

11:24 AM: Actually, having different voices on the Council would be welcome. Residents want change and powerfully voted overwhelmingly for term limits to ensure it.

10:43 AM/9:30 AM/10:01 AM: Will you, some day, tell all of Dyer's readers what your personal grievances are against Robert? Your communications are becoming increasingly unhinged.

Your theory is that residents are so satisfied with the current council, that they voted to term limit them? Makes no sense. Hard to spin the overwhelming term limit vote.

3:17 — Support for term limits is not necessarily a reflection on the sitting members. One might feel, from a philisophical standpoint, that periodically bringing in a fresh perspective is a good thing in and of itself. On the other hand, if voters were unhappy with certain council members they’d simply vote them out.

Some councilmembers were clearly planning to die in their seats.

They'll have to settle for a seat on a non profit's board or something.

This is the "unhinged" comment from 9:30AM. Posted yesterday @ 9:30AM and again Sunday. A dictionary definition. Oooh! Unhinged!

Redundancy :
the use of words or data that could be omitted without loss of meaning or function; repetition or superfluity of information.

synonyms: superfluity, unnecessariness, excess
example: horizontal length

@3:17: The term limits were all about the sitting members.
