Tyber Bierhaus to become St. Arnold's of Bethesda

Tyber Bierhaus will drop its German pub concept for another already pioneered by the same ownership in D.C. On Wednesday at lunchtime, the business will officially become known as St. Arnold's of Bethesda, linking it with St. Arnold's Mussel Bar in the District.

The change will mean a switch of cuisine from German to Belgian, including mussels, fries and Belgian waffles. St. Arnold's is located at 7525 Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.

I'm surprised this place has held on so long. Did they get a sweet lease deal?

It's just in such a weird location. No other similar businesses nearby.

Just a matter of time before the buildings between Element 28, 7550 Wisconsin, and the old Bank of Bethesda are cleared for another high-rise.

This won't last long with Mussel Bar doing a much better version of this cuisine.

7:14 it's in such a weird location that I bet the rent is cheap relative to other restaurant spaces in Bethesda.

I hope the bathrooms get cleaned.

I went a few times but they never had any unique beers and they prices were horrible. For example, they have Gaffel Kolsch which I have had in Germany. It is ok - but Tyber charges like $9 a pint. LOL this is like the Miller Light of northern Germany.

5:15 AM - You must remember this is MoCo and they more than likely have to pay a premium for access to this special brew here.

I hope they succeed. I always enjoyed Tyber, hopefully the new concept will work out for them.

It is a strange location. Uncle Jed's made it work for a long time, but then it seemed a few restaurants came and went quickly with little fanfare. I bet once the new building is up at La Madeleine they'll get more evening business from those residents.

St. Arnold's in Cleveland Park has always been amazing. Tyber was definitely not up to the same standards, so I hope by changing it to St. Arnold's it might get better. The prices for St. Arnold's mussels (and variety) during happy hour is much better than mussel bar. So here's to hoping that the quality is just as good as the DC one!
