Chase Bank to Pike & Rose?

Chase Bank is aggressively expanding across the country, having already opened two branches in downtown Bethesda alone, with a third Bethesda location in the works. Now I'm hearing they will open a future branch at Pike & Rose, on a pad site along Prose Street.

Why is the Chase Bank at 4749 Bethesda Avenue not tagged with the "Chase Bank" label? And where is the "third Bethesda location in the works"?

Your use of your labels is so inconsistent.

More banks that no one goes to. No really, who goes into a bank anymore?

I’m not a fan of free-standing branch banks in urban areas either, but they are fairly cheap to build, and easier to replace when added density is merited. No massive and expensive reinforced concrete safe deposit vaults are built anymore. Folks still like having drive thru banking, which is sometimes difficult to achieve in an urban context, as it usually creates vehicular traffic conflicts with pedestrian walkways.

I suppose a “temporary” branch bank with a drive thru on a pad at Pike & Rose is not really different than a “temporary” surface parking lot.

Small steps Ellie...

@ 1:00 AM - I doubt that anything will open in that building in the immediate future. Once Barnes & Noble shuts their superstore in Montrose Crossing and opens their new small-format store in Congressional Plaza, that entire quadrant of Montrose Crossing will be vacant, except for the BofA, and ready for redevelopment.
