It's called Pete's best cheesesteak? I thought it was called Pete's carryout. Regardless, it is the most overrated place in downtown Bethesda. It's a direct competitor of course to tastee diner but the comparisons end there. It is beyond awful. And I don't know how people patronize the place as frequently as they do especially with only stools that are tightly spaced. They're going to have a tough time especially with social distancing having their customers crammed in like sardines.
I find the opposite experience. The owner Ned is a riot to chat with and always serves up large portions. Easy to make customizations too, however you like it. Food is served really fast. My experiences at Tastee have been meh and the food is terrible and portions small. It’s drunk food is what it’s good for.
Part of the charm is the stools and counter and the people. I’ve never been a fan of Tastees. Definitely late night food.
@5:04 PM, Isn't it called "Carryout" for a reason??
Pete's is fine, obviously not a fancy place, the service is friendly and the food is good quality. There are very few sandwich places left in Bethesda, remember the sub base?
It is a Bethesda classic. You are not a true downtown Bethesda resident unless you eat at Peter's.
I am a lifelong resident and never heard of it until the last few years. It's hardly a Bethesda classic. It's also overrated at best. Social-distancing at the place? Impossible. No thanks.
6:09 sorry if you’re a life long resident and don’t know of Peter’s, you must not get out and about much. It’s been there for what 30 years?
I don't think 30 years. No one can know every business in town so your comment about not getting out much is nonsensical.
We need to hold on to these classic Bethesda spots among the new soulless high-rises going up.
Our rapidly changing city!
Lol 10:14 is silly.
Yep. Defensive much?
