Mui Japanese restaurant to replace The Block at Pike & Rose

The Block is gone at 967 Rose Avenue at Pike & Rose, but the space is going to remain a destination for Asian cuisine. Mui, a Japanese restaurant, will open in the former food hall spot next to West Elm this coming winter. Inspired by the modern cuisine of Japan, the menu at Mui will combine traditional and innovative new dishes. Seafood and meat will be cooked on a Robata grill. Like many top sushi restaurants in the region, Mui will offer an omakase dining option, which will leave the selection to the chef, who will surprise and delight diners with their latest creations.

A wine and champagne list will join a curated selection of cocktails. These will be complimented by a menu of fine agave, scotch and sake brands.

"We warmly welcome Mui to Pike & Rose," Federal Realty Senior Vice President Stuart Biel said in a statement this morning. "Our highly amenitized neighborhood is a popular destination for foodies and shoppers from North Bethesda and the greater community, and we are thrilled to share this new dining experience." "With its lively environment, Pike & Rose is the perfect setting for Mui’s first restaurant location, noted Mui's Edward Wong.

Pass. Way too big for one place. And nobody wants that cuisine.

How many shootings and other issues took place at The Block? Hopefully that will be the end of that nonsense, with this new tenant.

"... and nobody wants that cuisine."
So once again, I will point out JAC think he speaks for all of Bethesda. Once again, he will say something asinine like hes just stating his opinion, and if someone doesn't like it they can move on.
And once again a pompous arrogant windbag will not learn he speaks for only his own aged and angry self.

JAC must have the thoroughly researched data, through massive polling, that *nobody* wants Asian cuisine. Can we see your polling data, JAC, or are you just an obnoxious blowhard self centered liar? I mean, you did say you were a Republican, so I think I know the answer.

11:31 & :41 are the same person, number one and awfully triggered by what I say clearly. Two, the same types of places keep opening and keep failing epically in Bethesda. Japanese cuisine , to be specific, is pretty niche and doesn't offer a broad enough appeal. You have to offer an unbelievably high quality experience practically to just afford the rent.
The restaurant business is tough no doubt but what's being offered in our area in large part, is crap. Look at DC. Yes, it's a larger area clearly but there are probably over 100 great restaurants at all price points that are heads above what we have. We aren't some of them opening here? Is it due to the prohibition era lock the county has on beer, wine and spirits? That's likely part of it. People for some reason love Bradley Food & Beverage why I don't know. It's an ok store but not for their deli which is sub par at best. Compliments Only in DuPont is packed all the time and their sandwiches are the best within 5 miles of Bethesda. I could go on but at the end of the day, if you don't like what you're reading, move on. It's a gorgeous Mother's Day afternoon. Go out and enjoy it.

Everyone knows sushi is a very niche cuisine! And everyone knows Pike & Rose is in Bethesda!
