The Camille leases up retail space with animal hospital in downtown Bethesda

The ground floor retail space at The Camille at 7000 Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda now has a tenant. Southern Veterinary Partners, a vet-owned network of animal hospitals across America, has leased the 5894-square-foot retail unit. The Alabama-based firm was founded in 2014 by Dr. Jay Price. Construction is just getting underway inside the space.

Not sure how they can lease 5894 SF of continuous ground floor retail space when the building only has 2542 SF on the south side of the lobby, and 3,352 SF on the north side of the lobby. I doubt they would split the veterinary hospital into two separate unconnected spaces. Unless they have leased some of the residential space on the west side as well.

It seems a shame that the north space would not be a restaurant or a cafe adjacent to the covered walkway with plenty of width for outdoor dining.

Perhaps it’s not a good idea to lease a second level apartment above the animal hospital unless you really like the sound of barking dogs at 3AM.

This should do very well in this location.

Hopefully the rest of the block is redeveloped soon to get rid of the janky service road.

Vet wars? Bond Vet not too far away has been open for a bit now. Pretty sure they reduced their hours too, they used to be open on weekends but not anymore.

Or maybe because Bond Vet is unresponsive to emails asking questions about their vet services, people don't want to entrust their animals to this veterinary clinic.

I’m happy for some competition to Bond vet. They lost their old front desk staff and multiple vets. The prices have gone up significantly while service has gone down. Maybe this will make them start to use their heads.
