Just when the abandoned green shopping center at the corner of Norfolk and Fairmont Avenues was starting to look the worse for wear, developer JBG began putting it out of its misery yesterday. Eventually, it will be replaced with a 17-story luxury apartment building.
Strangely, just the night before, I had noticed a window covering had fallen away at the former location of Foong Lin. Foong Lin was still up last evening, as the first demolition started at the old convenience store.

I believe that used to be a High's Dairy Store.
Looks like they have taken away the parking on that side of the street too. Ugh.
Parking is gone on norfolk and fairmont sides of the building :(
They're actually taking up half a lane on Fairmont as well beyond the parking spaces.
It was called "One Plus Convenience" most recently. Though I have a feeling it was something else before.
I visited there once in the early-mid 1990s during a break while taking evening classes at the driving school on Wisconsin Avenue. Ahh, the high school years...
