DU-PAR'S BETHESDA CONFIRMS IT WILL CLOSE AFTER HAMBURGER HAMLET BANKRUPTCY

Exclusive

The Bethesda restaurant known for being "always open" is closing.

I just received word from Du-par's headquarters that the Bethesda location will indeed close. The pending auction of the Du-par's Hamburger Hamlet physical assets hinted that the restaurant's days might be numbered. While employees had expressed hope the restaurant could outlive the bankruptcy of local partner Hamburger Hamlet, we now know that won't be the case.

Du-par's retains its other famous locations, including restaurants in California and Las Vegas.

The Bethesda space at the Georgetown Square shopping center immediately becomes the subject of speculation as to which restaurant might lease it next.

Sorry to hear about the closing.

Dupar's-Hamburger Hamlet was unique. And we don't have many eateries open 24 hours, 365 days a year in Bethesda.

Come on Clyde's or Houston's...
I admit though I am a little sad to see it go.

When exactly will it close?

It is supposed to close this weekend. Friday may have been the last night, but they haven't been specific.
