Former Tako Grill space for lease in Bethesda, Westin hotel project falls further behind schedule

Tako Grill is preparing to open in its new location on Hampden Lane this month, but its original spot is up for lease at 7756 Wisconsin Avenue. Seeking a new tenant is more evidence that the Westin Bethesda hotel and office building project continues to be delayed for reasons not made public so far. The Westin hotel was supposed to open this year, so this project is majorly behind schedule at this point.

So did you try calling the developer and asking what was going on?

Not a huge surprise. Commercial development is in the doldrums everywhere in the DC metro area. I do wonder how the recently completed apartment buildings are doing.

Robert, why do you take all these pictures at night?

I have my doubts about hotel projects. It's a shame really, a world class city should have at least one great hotel.
I guess we have the Doubletree and Hyatt?

The Hilton Garden Inn is the latest in Bethesda I think.

Folks, are you only in Bethesda during the day? You're missing out on some great places to have dinner, catch a movie or grab a drink.

Come out and help our nighttime economy.

Dyer does have a day job: Professional truth-teller.

9:24: Slow news day?

12:54: And based on your comments, you are a raving lunatic. I suggest you seek professional help. Has Hans Riemer confessed whether he knew about criminal activity in the County DLC prior to November 4? #liquorgate

I agree that guy is crazy but then you go off too and sound just as crazy. Don't slink to that level and it will help your own image. :) keep up the great posts.

Dyer, what does that mean? As in it was a slow news day for you so you went out at night to get more news?

Anonymous said...

Slow "journalist".

Tako Grill is located on the site of the future office building, not the Westin hotel. Bernstein has stated that they will construct the project in two phases, and has recently said that the hotel will be built first. The office building will be built when they sign a lead tenant.

So, the hotel project can still start within the next year or so.

Is some unhinged weirdo stalker Dyer?

I sure hope so! #TeamVampire

I guess Marriott wouldn't be interested due to the Westin being next door?

yes, there's a stalker. He claimed to be in the council chambers watching Dyer testify.

2:37: Nothing crazy about holding our elected officials accountable for violating their oath of office.

Robert Dyer said...

2:38: No, it was a slow news day for the person commenting, so they decided to spend some quality time trolling on here.

Robert Dyer said...

5:13: Can you expand on your use of the word, "slow"? Can we add this to the massive list of offensive comments you've posted in which you have insulted the disabled, victims of 9/11, firefighters, the military, homosexuals, African-Americans, persons with anorexia, to name a few?

Can you imagine the fallout for your "career" and the politicians and organizations you've stated you support, when your identity is revealed, and Montgomery County learns you were behind these offensive statements?

Robert Dyer said...

6:21: It is still behind schedule, given that the hotel was supposed to be opening this year.

Sure, but context... Where did that come from? Left field! This article was great about the hotel and sushi place for lease.

I'm not sure you get what slow news day means.

5:03: Slow news day in Bethesda. Man up, anonymous coward.

It's your "news" that's slow. You missed the news that the site of Parker's and Sala Thai will become a Williams-Sonoma.

absolutely not. But you're the aspiring journalist while he is the mob. You're supposed to at least try to stay civil. Otherwise your voice gets reduced to the same.

He's not "aspiring", he is a journalist and is reporting daily.

There's no "journalist badge" that Dyer needs you to grant him.

Anonymous said...

If he's a "journalist", then why can't he be bothered to do the slightest bit of investigation, such as making the effort to pick up the phone and call the developer and ask them what's happening with this site? Or at least sending an email?

7:47 AM is still outside PizzaPass, waiting for a hot pie

5:18: If you don't know the 100-year-old phrase "slow news day," you are indeed poorly educated and in a terrible position to be criticizing other writers.

Robert Dyer said...

12:46: Did Frank get his pizza yet? #journalism

Robert Dyer said...

7:47: You mean like reporting the DLC scandal without asking Hans Riemer if he was aware of that criminal activity prior to Election Day, and kept quiet about it until he was safely reelected? #journalism

Anonymous said...

Actually, did you ask him or his office for comment?

Anonymous said...

Slow news day usually means you post relatively insignificant news since there is nothing else to post about.
