New awning reflects evolving menu at Bold Bite in Bethesda (Photos)

A new split awning on Fairmont Avenue represents the evolution of Bold Bite since its launch in 2011. Ninety percent of new restaurants fail by the end of their first year (or sixty percent, if you prefer the Ohio State analysis), so Bold Bite's longevity speaks for itself. But sibling owners Alonso and Alvaro Roche didn't rest on the laurels of their successful hot dog-and-fries eatery.

As the business expanded beyond Bethesda, so did the scope of the menu. Premium quality burgers and salads became just as important as the franks. And the latest menu additions, upscale donuts and locally-roasted coffee, get equal billing on the new awning out front as 202 Donuts and Coffee. Bold Bite is also the newest member of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce.

Good idea. I'm shocked that the hotdog place is still open.

If this isn't "sponsored content", then you are seriously getting ripped off.

I wish that they would fry their hot dogs, instead of boiling them.

Bold bite is a great establishment and really adds character to a quiet but soon to be booming block. I wish they were open later and on Sundays. Maybe the new 7770 building across the street will support them staying open later once it gets leased up.

Hopefully Greenhill finishes all their renovations sooner than later. This block needs some work to become booming. And take down that Greenhill Wall!

8:41 AM I think you mean grill their hot dogs, not fry.
