Bethesda construction update: Matchbox at Bethesda Row (Photos)

The pizza oven now says, "Matchbox," at the local chain's latest location, opening soon at Bethesda Row. Some seating is now in place, and even some decor on living room-style shelves. This is where American Tap Room used to be at the corner of Woodmont Avenue and Elm Street. Still no Matchbox sign outside.

So far doesn't look that cozy. That's ok I'll never go there. With this location, Rockville will be empty and parking aplenty and free.

Very modern fern bar.

Will this be a cashless establishment?

Is there any word on a soft opening? Looks like they're just about ready.

A manager was locking up restaurant on Thursday night, and told us it would be open in about a week, pending a few final inspections. Looks like a nice interior, with lots different seating types, and lots of TV’s, Including what looks like one large projection screen. Maybe they will be open in time for the Nats post-season games.

A nice way to break in the new place with a World Series win! A dozen or so packed evenings to watch the big games with a beer and a pizza would be a great restaurant/bar launch.
