SunTrust Bank branch offers validated parking at nearby building in Bethesda

SunTrust Bank at 7435 Old Georgetown Road is acknowledging that a large portion of their clientele arrive via automobile, rather than walking. To that end, they are offering a new perk to customers. They are now validating parking for their customers at Bethesda Place II at 7600 Wisconsin Avenue.

Bring your parking ticket in when you come to do business at the bank, and they will validate it for you. While it's not as convenient as retail parking in the actual building where SunTrust is would have been, it's at least going to be validated, rather than paying in the public garage "nearby."

Why the irony-quotes around "nearby" in reference to Garage 49? The Bethesda Place II garage is only 150 feet closer to the SunTrust Bank than Garage 49 is.

Also, it would have been useful to mention that the vehicle and pedestrian entrance to the Bethesda II garage is on Commerce Lane, catty-corner to the bank.

And how long is the validation good for?

A yuge blow to mass transit and the war on cars!!!!!!!

As Robert Dyer reported previously, the fees for Garage 49 were increased from $1.25 per hour to $1.00 per hour. Meaning that if you're just visiting the ATM machine, you can cover your visit with a quarter or less.

@ 10:47 - If Dyer wants access to the garage during his waking hours, I have a fob to that garage but its going to cost him!

Errr is this a really old photo? I don’t think La Madeleine has been there for ages

6:47: Have you been in downtown Bethesda recently?

@6:47 - La Madeleine is still there! The proposal for a new building on site is still under review by the Planning Board, and no demolition has taken place. So if you want your Quiche Lorraine or Croque Monsieur, you still have some time to go get them.

@ 6:47 AM - You are thinking of their restaurants in either in moribund Pike & Rose, or Silver Spring, which both closed in 2017.
