Holton-Arms School in Bethesda placed on lockdown as police took "domestic dispute" suspect into custody

A "domestic dispute" involving an employee of Holton-Arms School on River Road in Bethesda brought police to the private school at 10:59 AM this morning. The school was placed on lockdown due to the incident, which police have not yet detailed publicly. After police took the suspect into custody, the lockdown was lifted. A police spokesperson said that there is "an active and ongoing investigation" into the incident.

In a bizarre coincidence, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on River Road near the school entrance at around the same time. The collision resulted in two adults being transported to local hospitals. This story will be updated if further details become available.

This is what happens when you take SROs out of schools! When will MCPS wake up?!

Holton Arms is a private school that has nothing to do with MCPS. Good try, though! Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.

10:34: Why are you blaming MCPS? Holton Arms ia a private school.

Hey 1240 I went to a private school in Bethesda and we had private SROs
They were retired police and were great!

"private SROs." Lol, you're literally describing a security guard - you know, the thing all schools have.

@10:34 AM Looks like the Russian trolls have infiltrated this blog, or B-town's conservatives are really getting their panties in a bunch, over the wrong thing. Typical of them.

MCPS removed SRO's from campus because of campaigns that said they perpetuated racism:

https://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/impassioned-testimony-on-proposed-removal-of-school-resource-officers-in-montgomery-county/2563362/

> The independent Office of Legislative Oversight found that Black students, who made up only 22% of Montgomery County’s school population in 2019, were 47% of those arrested during the four-year period from 2015 to 2019.

Easy fix. Just arrest more White students and things wouldn't be racist anymore. Equity achieved.

> “The Montgomery County Public Schools SRO program is racist,” student Mauricio Quintero-Aviles said.

I just laid out the fix for that.

> “It is time that we drop this dumbfounded narrative that SROs are mentors,” said Lauren Payne of Young People for Progress.

You can ignore them if you want to, snowflake.

> “It will stop school-to-prison pipeline,” Payne said.

No it won't. They'll just be able to more severely injure someone or kill them because a cop wasn't there. They'll still go to prison anyway.

> “Instead of investing in therapeutic services, my county chose to invest in a program that made me feel uncomfortable in my school,” student Kyson Taylor said.

Why are you uncomfortable? Do you think you're doing something wrong? Go to class. Pay attention. Go home. That's school. Snowflake.
