Blaze Pizza, Lobster ME close at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda (Photos)

Blaze Pizza and Lobster ME have closed at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda. A sign outside of Blaze Pizza is directing customers to other area locations. According to a source at the mall, Blaze employees were told at the end of their shift on Sunday not to return Monday.

Lobster ME was dark in the Dining Terrace yesterday.

Also dark Monday was Jamaican Mi Crazy, which had a sign stating it was temporarily closed for renovations.

Blaze Pizza opened in August 2014, and their pizza earned a "strong four stars" out of five in my review. Lobster ME, which opened in November 2014, also earned a "solid four stars" in my opening day review of the Las Vegas export.

As a native Mainer, Lobster ME was an insult to the classic Downeast lobster shanty.

^^^No one gives a shit, Hodor is dead. Let us grieve.

It's quiet here. I guess that means Aaron is on his way to the mall and too busy to post.

Is this part of Dyer's "The Dark Side of Montgomery Mall" series?

Robert Dyer said...

6:45: No, the mall had its biggest year of sales in history in 2015.

I will miss the $14 Lobsticles.

Sad to see Lobster ME close. Sure it was overpriced, but it was good. My favorite place in the new food court.

John Snow is alive!

Blaze killed by their location--down that hallway middle of nowhere. Really too bad because the pizza was fantastic.

Smashburger is still open. And they will probably be open long after the mall closes.

I guess it's not such a moribund economy after all.

I'm not surprised about the other closings, but I am surprised about Blaze Pizza. Every time I was there, there was a line. So very disappointed at this closing and hope to find another nearby location. Their pizza is that good!

Aroma death watch begins?
Burger Venue marches on.

Shake Shack watch.

Well that was uncalled for. Sinking to the level of the trolls here.

It's still a lot of turnover. How does it compare to other popular malls like Tysons Corner?

Anonymous said...

Food court is too big to support that many tenants.

Jamaican Mi Crazy confirmed closed elsewhere.

That's not a good omen for Duck Duck Goose.

Is store reporter the blog where the writer shakes you down for your paypal/credit card number to read it, or is that the other blog?

According to Dyer this is theft!!

Every day I get up, Robert Dyer has Bethesda restaurant news. Keep up the good work.

Hi, "Rugby". Please give my regards to "Elm", "Woodmont" and "Arlington".

Rugby said...

2:31 PM And you are?

Every day I get up, Robert Dyer has a story about some new development or restaurant breaking news. Keep up the good work!

@3:06 this is his site. He can remove whatever post he wants.

Dyer's little sidekick is so funny.

Rugby said...

3:10pm: Agreed. The way I see it, just start your own site if you don't like this one.
The Internet is littered with failed copies: Bethesda Patch, Bethesda Now and many other halted ventures. Tough to compete with Robert Dyer, particularly if you try to do so from high atop Arlington, VA.

"Rugby", really, whom do you think you are fooling?

Megalomania Alert!

Robert Dyer said...

10:18: A guy who works for the megalomaniacal County Council calling someone a megalomaniac - hysterical.

Anonymous said...

And Robert Dyer has proof 0:18 works for the county council? This is his degree of facts?

Robert Dyer said...

"0:18"? Is that his code name?

"The degree of facts" is that the troll has been remarkably candid and upfront about which elected officials, development companies and media outlets he is closely associated with. Now if he'll just tell us what his name is, and how much he's getting paid...

You would make a terrible attorney if this is what you consider passable for facts and evidence.

Robert Dyer said...

5:26: A defendant's own statements can be used against him in a court of law. Objection overruled, punk.

Judge Judy would punch Dyer in the nose and he would run away crying.

@ 5:29 AM - Given that you've shown yourself to be completely unable to quote anyone accurately, such hearsay would be quickly dismissed in an actual court.

Anonymous said...

Fanboys. All Dyer all the time.

Code name. Hahaha. You should give your main troll one. Ideas?

Anonymous said...

"Shut up, loser" is your closing argument?

Anonymous said...

No, 11:22, it's his closing salutation.

Lobster Me was overpriced and nowhere near as good as the other local options like Luke's. Add in a crowded food court and its no surprised they closed. I never saw anyone at Jamaican Mi Crazy. Blaze always had a line though, and decent pizza.

Anonymous said...

11:23 AM It wasn't reported first elsewhere. You're lying (again).

6:59 Hi Robert

Sounds like someone is trying to promote their self-published personal blog here! Regurgitating Dyer's reporting and claiming to have reported things first.

Why does Dyer's site attract so many mentally ill pathological plagiarists? I've never seen so many crazies attracted to a site who want to replicate it. Failures like BethesdaNOW through whatever crazy site the nut of the month has cooked up. Scary stuff.

@ 7:35 PM: Hi, Robert.

I was shocked when I found out that Blaze pizza closed. It always seemed to be doing well when I passed by it. Does anyone know why it closed?

Anonymous said...

9:16 Hi aaron or is it steve?

Busy servicing Neil Greenberger.

I liked the Blaze too bad. Lobster ME was an easy call it would fail with so many choices at half the cost surrounding it.
