Bethesda construction update: 7900 Wisconsin Avenue (Video+Photos)
JBG Smith's 7900 Wisconsin Avenue high-rise continues to progress. Recently, Orange Theory Fitness leased the retail space that fronts Woodmont Avenue. When completed, the development will include 323 luxury apartments, two rooftop terraces, a fitness center, a bar and lounge, fire pits, indoor and outdoor pools, and a pedestrian pass-though with a mirrored portico. Trader Joe's was accidentally revealed as the retail anchor of the project in 2014.

Looking forward to welcoming another grocery store to Woodmont Triangle!
And another fitness center as well...
Yay Trader Joe's!
In the original plan, was there supposed to be restaurant space in the building? Did the fitness club take that space?
3:25: Yes, and that has put a damper on expectations that this building would activate the Woodmont Avenue side of the development later at night. Very disappointing, but I've heard a lot of positive feedback from readers and IRL on the Orange Theory signing.
A smaller 951 SF retail tenant adjacent to the Market and to the residential lobby is shown on the south side of the proposed privately owned public space, perhaps a small coffee shop I would guess.
The larger 1951 SF space on the north site of the plaza, closer to Wisconsin, is still shown on the plans as available. It is adjacent to the east end of the Bethesda Chocolate Store. It is a bit odd that rumored Trader Joe’s is not listed on the large market space on Wisconsin, but at least it does not indicated that it is vacant. You would think that a marketing brochure would include the name any leased spaces.
A very slick retail leasing brochure can be viewed here. It’s an interesting read on the demographics and target market for this development and for the region.

5:59 AM Trader Joe's lease is a very tightly held secret apparently. Only Robert Dyer was able to report on it. He has great sources!
Dyer has great sources!
Breaking news we will soon hear on the Suburban News Network, Trader Joe’s is only moving the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Has construction stopped on this site?
