Capital Crescent Trail section to close for more than two months

The section of the Capital Crescent Trail adjacent to Ourisman Honda will close for over two months starting tomorrow, May 13, 2019. It will reopen on July 31, according to a sign just installed on Bethesda Avenue. The closure is due to improvements the dealership agreed to make after it encroached on the trail's right-of-way several years ago. 

Rather than enforce codes and property lines, Montgomery County folded up like a card table and capitulated to Ourisman's proposal to allow it to keep its expansion in the right-of-way. In exchange, the dealership will create a small "park" where the trail meets the sidewalk on Bethesda Avenue, and slightly widen part of this section of the trail.

Signs will direct you to the temporary detour during the closure.
