Montgomery County, DC businesses begin boarding up for Election Day unrest

Businesses in Washington, D.C. and Montgomery County are starting to board up their storefronts ahead of possible civil unrest and violence on Election Day and afterward. Most are leaving their entrance doors open so they can continue to operate until it becomes necessary to close, which wouldn't likely be before the polls close nationwide Tuesday night.

Among the businesses already boarding up are bluemercury at Bethesda Row (which also was the first to board up during the George Floyd riots last spring), and Mazza Gallerie. In Tenleytown, CVS Pharmacy and Tenley Liquor's windows are covered. And in Friendship Heights, New Balance, Everett Hall, and the AT&T Store are among the first to batten down the hatches.

Make sure to follow @BethesdaRow on Twitter ahead of Election Day for breaking news about any riots, looting or election-related violence in our area. Have you thought about Discord instead? They aren't threatening to shut down anything, the service is reliable and available on mobile as well as desktop, and I haven't hit the upload limit yet.

We never had anything like this when Obama or Clinton were President.

10:04 AM - Yeah because the conservative side aren't a bunch of violent thugs who act like children when they don't get their way.

Because the rioters and looters liked Obama and Clinton and hate Trump. Trump dashed their hopes that all future presidents would be "people of color" or women or both. Re-elect Donald Trump.

It's not conservative men and women rioting and looting they're too busy working and living their lives.
