PassionFish will close its downtown Bethesda location at 7187 Woodmont Avenue, the restaurant announced yesterday. After five years in business, it will close following dinner service tomorrow evening, Sunday, November 15, 2020.
While a popular dining destination with good reviews, there had been rumors PassionFish would make an exit earlier this year. In August, real estate firm KLNB ran a "discrete listing" offering the space as potentially available for lease. The Reston PassionFish in more business-friendly Northern Virginia remains open for business, which says a lot about Montgomery County's business climate.

Sorry to see it go. Their DC restaurants (District Commons and BTS) also closed last month so I wouldn't be surprised if their final place (PassionFish Reston) closes in the next month or two. It being in a cheaper submarket than the rest will only buy them so much runway.
What does everyone want to see in this space?
7:17: Olive Garden
Oh please no Olive Garden. Even TGIFriday is better.
What a disaster. Elrich and his corrupt cronies are killing Bethesda Row (and MoCo in general). My family and I really liked that place.
The only way I could see Passion Fish surviving would have been to completely alter its menu to takeout sushi and seafood burgers/bar/fast food. Perhaps even that wasn't doable. What a shame.
With our bad luck, we'll wind up with a Maggiano's. Calling it now....
I would love to see a Rasika open up there.
Of course, we'll probably get a Copper Canyon Grill or a Red Lobster...
an Irish Pub would be OK, or just a pub :-)
