Family-owned Foer's Pharmacy has closed at 8218 Wisconsin Avenue, in the Bethesda Medical Building. During more than half a century in operation, Foer's at one time had multiple locations in the region. As of the close of business last evening, it retains a Rockville sales office that is focused on providing medications to long-term care facilities.
A store representative said that the downtown Bethesda pharmacy's prescription records have been transferred over to the pharmacy at the Safeway store at 5000 Bradley Boulevard. As of this morning, calls to the Bethesda Foer's number will be automatically forwarded to the Safeway pharmacy. Patients may have their prescription refills transferred to another pharmacy of their choice if they wish.

Sad, but bound to happen. Maybe the staff can get jobs at Walmart or deliver for Bezos. There are lots of call center jobs open.
Right, because pharmacists are so low-skilled and in such poor demand. You're definitely not insane, 5:07.
@5:07 Clown comment dude.
Great Pharmacy and locally owned which made the service better and friendlier. Old school.
So everyone who works there is a pharmacist?
Another bit of Bethesda history slips beneath the waves. Foer's closed their Rockledge location a couple of years ago. They still appear to have an outpost on Gude, for those who operate in those outer environs.
Well, what the heck, standing on line at the mega-chain for 10+ minutes so you can get undertones of attitude from a minimum-wage clerk working the Rx drop-off counter is pretty much indistinguishable from being recognized and greeted pleasantly by name at an independently owned small business, amiright?
Disappointing for sure. It's challenging for small and family-owned businesses to stay afloat.
I was similarly disappointed when Bradley Cares Drug (on Arlington) closed a few years ago. I was able to pick up various items, especially for my folks, at that store that were difficult to find elsewhere.
It's always sad when trolls come out and attack or mock a family-run place closing. They just served you for 50 years; let them retire in peace.
You're going to miss real service someday, Einstein.
They didn’t do a very good job of attracting new customers since I’ve lived in Bethesda for 6 years and never heard of the place until now.
They were the only 'compounding pharmacy ' around, too. I had to go there once for a special prescription.
I shopped there for years especially for items other pharmacies did not have. Their prices were very fair and their service was excellent. Very sorry they closed.
