Hardwood Artisans appears to be on the way out in the Woodmont Triangle - at least from its current showroom. Their ground-level space at 4828 St. Elmo Avenue is now listed as becoming available for lease on July 1, 2025. They've had a good 9-year run, which is tough for any business to accomplish in downtown Bethesda. Hardwood Artisans remains open for business.
This is "the best corner in Woodmont Triangle," according to Dochter & Alexander Retail Advisors, which is marketing the property. It's also best remembered as the home of Johnny Rockets way back in the 1990s. One point of interest in the online listing for the space is that it retains a kitchen exhaust shaft for restaurant use. A restaurant would certainly do more to liven up that corner than retail that closes at night.

Beautiful wood craftsmanship...and excellent customer service. We got a bespoke headboard from them about 3 years ago. Hopefully, they can find another prominent location in the area.
This corner is dying for a restaurant/cafe use. Make it so.
8:38 - True. Johnny Rockets is way too chain, crap burgers, etc. But yes, something awesome would be great on that corner.
I know my dog will miss the treats that are left out by their storefront. I hope the new renters continue that.
Hardwood Artisans is moving, in June, from their current location into the old Random Harvest location next to Blacks Bar & Kitchen, on Woodmont Avenue. The bowl of dog treats will make the move with them.
