The suspect(s) in the March 29, 2025 shooting on Westbard Avenue in Bethesda are apparently as wily and resourceful as Harrison Ford in The Fugitive. He/she/they remain just that: fugitives, as the two week mark approaches just after midnight tonight. Physical descriptions of the suspect(s) have still not been released to the public, nor has any surveillance footage from the Bowlero or Westbard Square security cameras near the spot from which the gunfire emanated. The Montgomery County Council and Montgomery County Police Department have not commented publicly on the incident two weeks later, as the community waits for answers.
In this day and age of ubiquitous surveillance, dashcam, and doorbell cameras, it is remarkable that whoever was behind the many shots fired on Westbard could successfully flee and hide out, after committing a violent crime in such a visible location. The outcome of this case will have public safety implications for the Westbard area in the future. If people see that they can come in here and have a gunfight, and evade consequences, word will get out. Maryland gun laws still violate the 2nd Amendment for law-abiding citizens. Yet, as we see, criminals will still be allowed to be armed - and open fire in public spaces - with impunity. As the late Jack Kemp correctly said, "Weakness is provocative."

They laugh at us.
I can see why.
Even if they were apprehended, the powers that be in Rockville will release them on a signature bond. Elections have consequences.
They only act on high profile cases.
Just as there are no consequences here, there is no foresight. We keep repeating the same old mistakes expecting nurture to trump nature. 'Cause and effect' is wasted as is the concept of merit and discipline. We need to sink along with PG County as the state drowns in incompetence.
The three-legged justice system keeps passing the buck around.
Hey Robert, just saw a blue light police SUV across the street from me on Battery Lane and quickly turned on my 2D scanner just in time to hear chatter concerning a robbery that had just occurred by the tennis courts at Battery Lane Park. I recognized a nice neighbor dog walker lady talking to the patrol officer who answered the call/complaint. After further chatter transmissions it was unclear if she was the victim of said robbery or if she was the good Samaritan who was a witness and/or found some of the victim's property close to 4949 Battery. Suspects (2 black males or 1 female) were last seen running on Norfolk Ave possibly heading towards the Bethesda Metro. This is disturbing as it's practically right outside my door. -- Do you or can you or anyone else on this platform have any more information or a way to follow up somehow? It really is time to start packin'... A woman can't even walk on the asphalt park path to or from NIH, Sunrise, Aldon, HOC OR take their puppers out for walkies without the real concern of being assaulted, robbed, intervening, witnessing or way worse!
Just wait for the purple line plus Maryland's lack of criminal consequences will certainly help those repeat offenders.
You took the words out of my mouth. Providing equal opportunity for all.
Robert, if you haven't already, why don't you invite one of the MCPD officials to an interview, and post the video, transcript, and/or summary?
Going to be an interesting Summer! 'Interesting' along the Chinese vein of the backhanded meaning of the word. How bad does it have to get before citizen concerns get traction? Speaking of traction, it looks like the jury pool of our 'peers' found the cretin that ran into our MCPO and essentially amputated both his legs was found not guilty of attempted murder: expect more disrespect and danger from our detractors.
If you can pull them away from their hobby of flying drones.
Unfortunately we haven't seen the worst of liberal rule yet. Look at Portland, (San Francisco, Denver, etc..), if you want to see what democrats in charge can do without any opposition.
I’m for more police and more transparency (unless they are quiet for a specific reason). I’m not in favor of good samaritans interjecting themselves in gun battles. And one reason is the responding police may shoot you.
I'm for the God given and Constitutional right to protect myself, I'd probably not be a 'good Samaritan' opening myself to being second guessed by the same liberal I'm likely to be saving.
I think that should be, "interposing," not "interjecting."
MD is a duty to retreat state essentially removing the possibility of a "good samaritan" coming to save your life unless the threat is directed at the CCP holder.
In fact, MD is so upside-down that they specifically require active-duty police officers from DC, (ask me how I know but most likely other jurisdictions as well), to get a MD CCP permit to travel in or if they live in MD. Even VA has reciprocity with DC whereas MD does not.
A council member or MD politician will need to be a victim of a violent crime before there are any changes to laws that no criminal respects. Until that time, the unarmed citizens of MD will just need to suck it up as a statistic.
Exactly, the old clever saying: "I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6" in this county just doesn't have the same feel anymore...
11:40 is on point as the majority of voters in BCC would love to convict law abiding CCP holders all while giving habitual criminals a pass. These liberals should all live their values and put the gun with the red circle & line through it stickers on their cars and on their person. They won't because leftists are all hypocrites.
"Puppers out for walkies....."
What has happened to us?!
