And the shameful embargo of iPic continues.

This place was so dead the couple of times I went by.

Folks aren't even watching TV in their living rooms any more. Why should they drive several miles just so that they can go in some dark place with a couple hundred strangers?

In the age of 4K TVs and tablets, theaters are betting folks will come out and pay a premium to see a movie and chow down on gourmet food.

It's now all pike and rose. I haven't seen any City Perch or City Sports coverage. They both opened this week.

Dyer could of had a free bag worth of goodies if he was one of the first 100 people in line at City Sports. Guess he was too good for that.

He only gives good reviews to places that coddle him. Sad.

I don't get this notion that people will pay premium for "gourmet food" that they are forced to eat out of their lap like barbarians.

"Barbarians"?? What are you some kind of elitist that won't eat anything other than fine dining with 7 courses and polished silverware and servers? Lol.

@ 4:11 PM - No, I would be perfectly content with one course, served on a plate that is on top of a table, and with flatware. No need to go all Louis XIV here. Heck, even McDonalds has tables.

You can't get a lobsicle at Pike & Rose

11:22 Haven't heard a word from PR folks at Pike & Rose, iPic, City Perch or City Sports. Not sure what their marketing strategy is, but it doesn't sound very 2014 to me.

Robert Dyer said...

3:11 ArcLight has a sit-down cafe for those needing a table.

Robert Dyer said...

6:43 Well said.

11:13 PM - How heartbreaking that their "marketing strategy" doesn't include you.

Tom said...

Have you reached out to them? Maybe they just hadn't heard of you.

$13.75 movie ticket. $17 lobsicle. Popcorn, candy, soda... crap this is going to be expensive.

Tom, trust me, the Pike & Rose folks know who I am. I tag them on every social media post. Del Frisco's Grille invited me to their media event, because they had a smart PR person who does her homework about who the local media people are. I had the first report about City Perch online with menu and personnel details, and tagged Pike & Rose on the tweets, Facebook, etc. So it's embarrassing if you're not inviting the guy who breaks the story about your own restaurant or real estate development.

Robert Dyer said...

7:30: So true - it is heartbreaking when you're marketing a town center in a highly competitive area, and a theater (iPic) and restaurants in a severely competitive market, and you're leaving the large readership of the longest standing local blogger on the table. They're literally leaving money on the table. Your quotes around "marketing strategy" are quite appropriate. Heartbreaking indeed, for their respective CEOs, when they find they paid for 2014 marketing and got 1964 marketing that left money on the table. Heartbreaking, indeed.

You're so incredibly arrogant. Did LobsterMe and Microsoft extend an invitation? Must you be ASKED to attend something? Smells like pay for play to me.

If you were following City Sports you would of seen they were offering a great open day of prizes. You could of gone and participated. Why did you need an invite when ANY member of the public could join in?

You sicken me Dyer. You are not above the average person nor do you deserve ANY special treatment.

2:38pm: Robert had an exclusive sit down interview with a Microsoft executive. You may want to check it out.

When Robert starts using the royal "We" to refer to himself or the blog, then we can say he is arrogant. Hasn't happened yet :)

iPic seems to be using legacy terrestrial radio for most of their PR the past few days.

I don't listen to terrestrial radio much anymore.

Eh, maybe they just don't put too much stock in you? Or think your polarizing ways (as evidenced by commentary here) is a negative? Either way, so did you reach out to them? Whether they know you or not? No need I be prideful here.

Anonymous said...

@ 5:37 PM - his sockpuppets are the ones using the "royal we".

Anonymous said...

There are actually other bloggers who refer to themselves using the royal "we". I wasn't making a joke.
I know, crazy right?

Robert Dyer said...

2:38: My comments re: Pike & Rose were on target. No, Lobster ME did not "extend an invitation." I went on opening day because I was interested, and I knew my readers were interested, as well. Microsoft did extend an invite to a media preview of the store. There was no "pay to play" in either case. Unlike the County Council with their pay-to-play developer contributions.

I follow City Sports, but if you know how Facebook works, I rarely get their posts in my feed. PR people have to directly contact the media; you can't expect someone to find your post in a Facebook feed.

Who said I deserve special treatment?

Robert Dyer said...

6:51: I already told you, they know who I am. Trust me.

Anonymous said...

Wow. Rob can't defend himself without throwing in criticism about others. Just like little kids do. Be a man and stand up for yourself on your own terms instead of deflecting. You'll do fine if you just make logical statements without bias.

Anonymous said...

@ 9:44 PM - There's your problem, right there. Maybe you're the one who needs a "2014-style PR campaign", not they.

Anonymous said...

That's a good point.

Robert Dyer said...

1:52 Stating the facts is not criticism. Hilarious to hear someone cowardly posting anonymously exhort someone who puts his name and face to everything he writes to "be a man."

Robert Dyer said...

5:34 Actually, it's Pike & Rose that needs the 2014 PR campaign. They've got competition now, and more on the way from JBG, Lerner and others in the White Flint area alone. There are going to be about 9 town centers competing for the same wallets.

10 town centers, after Westbard is built.
