Lolli and Pops coming to Bethesda (Photos)

Lolli and Pops, a medium-size national chain of unique international sweets, is opening its latest candy shop in Bethesda, at Westfield Montgomery Mall.

Japanese soda, Spanish sourbelts, and Madagascar chocolates are among the unusual products carried by the San Fransciso-based company.

Lolli and Pops will be located next to the future Alex and Ani boutique. It should be an interesting new alternative to Godiva at the mall. They're currently hiring, so it shouldn't be that long before they open.

No ill will intended with the question - what qualifies as a medium-size business?

Dyer is covering lollipop stores, but ignoring the fact that one of Montgomery's two Fortune 500 just made a major acquisition. Lockheed Martin has announced that they will buy Sikorsky Aircraft from United Technologies.

MoCo Machine's gain, Connecticut's loss.

I only buy junk food made in the USA.

9:33: I don't normally report every move by Lockheed; they make a lot of them.

It's definitely not the MoCo Machine's "gain", though - you seem to have forgotten the machine has been trying to convince Lockheed to leave the county for years with crazy resolutions and legislative attempts to penalize them. Fortunately, they've stayed, but no thanks to the MoCo political machine. George Leventhal and ISIS agree on one thing - they both want defense spending reduced.

You realize that defense spending is determined by the federal government, do you not?

12:10: Go back and research the County Council resolution that targeted Lockheed. It remains a major embarrassment, and helped establish Montgomery County as hostile to business.

7:33: It simply means it's not a small chain like Jaleo, but not a huge chain like McDonald's.

The Lockheed incident was a major embarrassment for Montgomery County.
Our state delegation had to walk the Council off the ledge. The Council almost drove Lockheed out.

Did Robert dyer really just compare Leventhal to ISIS? Wow.

Robert Dyer said...

3:42: They both would like America to spend less on defense spending, as I stated. That's not in dispute. Read the Council resolution. Educate yourself.

The person comparing a Montgomery County Maryland councilmember to ISIS is the person telling someone to "educate yourself." That's the kind of hard charging analysis you can only get from mom's basement.

Thinking the country spends too much of our GDP on the defense budget versus people that behead people to terrorize. Same thing!

3:34: Their position on U.S. defense spending is the same. Believing our country can defend itself by unilaterally disarming is an idea from somebody's "mom's basement", for sure.

Robert Dyer said...

5:50: Despite your hyperbolic rant, their position on U.S. defense spending is the same. You agree with them, as well?

I think we should raise income taxes 15% across the board and all extra revenue should go to the defense budget to fight ISIS. I wonder if ISIS would agree with that.

ISIS has never attacked the United States or Montgomery County Maryland

Has Dyer ever served? Or is he just another Republican chickenhawk?

Robert Dyer said...

12;17: You can debate that issue, but you can't debate that they would both like the U.S. to spend less on defense.

Robert Dyer said...

3:03: A chickenhawk is someone who advocates going to war. That's different from advocating for sufficient spending to protect the country from foreign threats. How many on the County Council "ever served"? We have a local economic reason, as well as a national defense interest, to advocate for Lockheed's success. Embarrassingly, the County Council has demonstrated it has no grasp of either fundamental priority.

Dyer, show me where ISIS has called for less U.S. defense spending.

G. Money, show me where North Korea has called for less U.S. defense spending. What enemy makes a public statement asking their opponent to reduce defense spending? But if they're getting bombed by Lockheed equipment, as ISIS was last year, you better believe they want less U.S. defense spending.

G. Money said...

Okay, so by your logic, because two groups want marginally similar things for completely different reasons, those groups positions are the same?

And yet you accuse others of hyperbolic ranting. Odd.
