Horrible sign, horrible camera, horrible photographer.
But the naked lady in that apartment on the 8th floor is great.
Now it will finally get that Michelin star Robert
From the photo I’m having a difficult time figuring out what was changed? IIRC the issues were that (1) the sign was not permitted, and (2) the door opened out into the sidewalk/pedestrian right of way.
They are the most newsorthy business in Betsy!
Why does the whole south side of Cordell Avenue look like it's about to tip over?
Dyer can't compose a photo for sh*t.
Relax everybody. Robert is a night time blogger with a cell phone. His news is the important part and he is good at it. The photos aren’t a big deal.
And he'll never enjoy a George steak! I can still taste it- gratis.
Defaming TWO local businesses in one comment!
Troll @9:05AM has met his daily quota.
Dyer's stalker/troll can turn every post back to his perceived grievances against Dyer. You don't want Dyer to publish anymore...we get it. Problem is, we still have freedom of the press.
9:53am you enjoy attacking Dyer, a local small business owner, multiple time a day.
So, there's that.
"Business: (3) A usually commercial or mercantile activity engaged in as a means of livelihood."
"Livelihood" implies income. To date, Robert Dyer has only indicated that his "business" has earned him $50 in advertising revenues.
3:12pm lol... you are lying again. You don't know how Dyer earns.
You, Mr. Anonymous, lose credibility when you make these false assertions.
You're a below average bully.
"lol... you are lying again. You don't know how Dyer earns.
You, Mr. Anonymous, lose credibility when you make these false assertions."
How are you in a position to know that is not true?
3:12: You know nothing of my income or financial situation. You sound like a complete moron.
Robert, you're a good guy. And the community appreciates the time you invest in providing this information. I don't know what the history is of the people who 'troll' you but if they hate you as much as they profess, one would think they would NOT read your blog. Maybe they secretly want to BE you !
At least that way there would be SOMETHING to respect about them.
Robert Dyer secretly wants to be Hans Riemer.

Oh the irony.
Dyer @ 8:44 PM -
#ReleaseTheReturns
5:51: Hans Riemer not-so-secretly wants to be Robert Dyer.
3:40: Thank you.
6:01: No Council candidate has ever released tax returns, old sport.
Man...I spent far too much time looking for the naked lady.
So you are saying Hans wants to not win the county council seat, run a popular but controversial set of hyperlocal blogs, and self release record albums?
3:40, it’s kind of how the author keeps writing about Hans and the council.
No one knows how you can run several blogs without any known source of income. None of the blog posts indicate sponsorship.
Its a hobby blog if its a hobby on the side you dont get paid the guy has no over head he lives in his moms basement
9:53 are you the retard that likes all of Roberts facebook posts
or is it robert the retard
Hans wants to be Robert Dyer that's the funniest quote I heard maybe all time on here.. Hearing Robert try to pronounce Quesadilllllla is so awesome please go to youtube and watch his taco bell quesadiila review straight Napoleon Dynamite... Its pronounced deeee yahhhhh, the L's are silent and Robert complaining about 40 cent Sales tax on your tacos at "Taco bell is also priceless and blaming the so called cartel for it, maybe you do need to get paid buddy start charging these businesses if you really have the numbers you claim that read it why wouldnt they its the demo they want, but the issue is you dont have the numbers one may suppose do that and I promise the 30 cents sales tax wont be a wallet breaker at Taco Bell for you boss
6:28: Nobody knows how the small-and-slightly-failing magazine can afford 3 full-time reporters who have to pay MoCo living expenses, and also the massive payments to buy clicks on Facebook, Twitter and Google search, in the age of declining print advertising revenues. Who are the angel investors? Will you disclose?
6:53: You just redefined the term "word salad."
6:45: Good to know Hans Riemer supporters still use the R-word. Voters will remember his Neanderthal operatives in November 2018.
Now is the time to support local journalism like what Robert Dyer is providing across the county.
He's doing the work to fill the gap the Gazette left when it closed.
It's a company. It might have investors. They pay employees. They take in advertising revenue. Basically, they are like every company in America.
What's your point?
8:05 AM Dyer is a local news publisher. Let's support him. His sites and audiences are growing around the county...
8:41, I don't like that he constantly defames the competitors and other local businesses. They aren't out there defaming him. It's childish and gets laughs, but not approval from readers.
But that has nothing to do with my comment @8:05.
9:35: I've never defamed a local business. That's simply a false statement.
It is defamation to continue posting lies about what Robert posts or claiming he writes every comment here. Full stop.
"Now is the time to support local journalism like what BB is providing across the county."
"BB is doing the work to fill the gap the Gazette left when it closed."
"BB is a local news publisher. Let's support them. Their sites and audiences are growing around the county."
You never see comments like this at BB.
Quesa deeee yahhhhhh
They can afford it because they have real advertisers they charge thousands to fill there mag with full page color ads, Robert you would not understand because you don't have anyone pay you for anything so its not a mystery its an established company with real office you are operating out of your moms basement
10:21 AM I doubt Dyer or his loyal readers would bring any of this up if the anonymous troll/stalker didn't.
10:42 AM I'm sorry, but you are posting more lies...Dyer doesn't live in his parent's basement.
Dyer has a digital start-up...the only pure digital news network covering the county. Why not support him rather attacking him?
You're attacking him for having the audacity to bring news to the news deserts of the county.
10:42 AM If office space was signal of success, the Gazette would be winning right now. All of their bureaus, massive print presses, etc...all gone now.
The Post has closed their local bureaus...
All this talk of having large office square footage and print editions makes me think its the 1980s again!
Defaming a local business:
Robert Dyer @7:26AM
" Nobody knows how the small-and-slightly-failing magazine can afford 3 full-time reporters who have to pay MoCo living expenses, and also the massive payments to buy clicks on Facebook, Twitter and Google search, in the age of declining print advertising revenues. Who are the angel investors?"
11:31 AM lol.. Let's be clear- that's not defamation to ask questions about a business in response to them asking the same questions about Robert.
Attacking someone with untrue personal attacks is (as Dyer's troll/stalker does here daily).
Any questions?
11:47 AM I'm not Dyer, but appreciate the comment.
Calling it a "small and slightly failing magazine" is defamatory. Period.
Millennials are going for traditional print media providers. Multiple platforms is business wise. Having an office is normal. Gazette, really? What's next, comparing this blog to The Evening Star?
In truth, he's a guy who runs news/opinion blogs of a few local areas. Part-time it seems. On no specific schedule. A rather right-leaning blog, on issues. giving only the author's point of view in both topic and tone. His business, he can. Just like he can use whatever time zone he wants.
I guess I will never understand this rift he has with someone who used to work for the other site, and why all his "supporters" target their hostility on those commenters, that don't cow-tow to the author, as if they were said rival.
I've never ever seen the other site ask any questions about Dyer.
Link, please.
12:10 PM Millennials are going for Buzzfeed, HuffPo, Mashable, etc.
Not traditional legacy print media. I'm sorry.
Yes, the Post has an entire office building. They do national really well, but they in no way cover Bethesda, Rockville and Silver Spring like Robert Dyer. Full stop.
Dyer has a "rift" with someone? Never heard of that before.
You post under various names, including anonymous. You don't like Robert. Great- you made your opinion clear.
1:06PM - I post as myself. Me, my real name. I don't post anything I wouldn't say in person.
That full stop crap is tired. I get it, local. But not everything and usually not in-depth. Like I said, on his own terms.
I don't know what your deal is. You post as anonymous or various other pseudonyms yet you over-reach in your support of Dyer and act staunchly hostile to anyone with a different view. Me, in particular. Yet, you remain cloaked by anonymity.
On the media thing - just stuff I've been reading lately. Check it out:
isentia
hypebeast
106 - You seriously don’t think Robert has a rift with Hans?
11:19 are you stalking Robert? How do you know where he lives? He has very explicitly said that it is stalking talking about where he lives!!!! Be careful!!
9:50, so you are saying if another publication said the exact same things that you say it would not be defamation?
The Post totally sucks because it doesn't report on hotel driveways opening and closing, and give "daily" crime reports once a month.
5:06 PM The Post doesn't cover the Bethesda retail, restaurant, transportation or development beat like Robert Dyer.
You are not going to find out about the latest development or restaurant in Bethesda by reading the Post. You just aren't. That's where Robert Dyer comes in.
The lack of local news is in itself big news. With the shuttering of Gothamist and DNAInfo in NY last week there are again lots of stories about the decimation of local news. Coverage is shifting away from “incremental” to more “consequential” news.
Big losers seem to be local politics and crime coverage. What's needed is "balanced" coverage. Local advertising money is down, and that's pretty much the life-blood of local coverage. Right now it's like they're all struggling to figure out what works and what's the future.
Guess I don't see the benefit of name-calling and income/expense suppositions and business viability. Even if one comes out of top, do they really?
How you treat people ultimately tells all. Integrity is everything.
5:18: Integrity is everything. Too bad Bethesda Magazine stole my Dean & DeLuca scoop without hyperlinking to my story near the top of their article. Journalism 101. That was 10 days of enterprising reporting on my part, my work appropriated in a few-minute hot take by the small-and-slightly-failing magazine.
Interestingly enough, hyperlinking isn't required. It's an option, for sure, but not a requirement.
Neither is crediting at the beginning of the story a requirement.
All that's necessary is attribution.
Plagiarism means claiming someone else's work is your own by putting it in your story without attribution or credit.
Here's the SPJ Code of Ethics
SPJ Ethics
1:41 PM Digital journalism 101: link back to the source
Wonder why Bethesda Magazine refuses to link back to Robert's original article?
Not illegal I guess, but certainly questionable journalism and ethics.
2:25PM - Source please. Please link to "digital journalism 101." You're bitching about linking, where's yours? Did you even read through the Soc of Professional Journalism's Ethics?
What's "questionable" is falsely accusing another operation because they did what's required, but not how you wanted them to credit you.
Do YOU, Robert Dyer, ever hyperlink to a story of theirs? I don't know, I'm asking.
The spin here is loony. refuses. questionable ethics It rings more like animus.
