Marine Layer opens at Bethesda Row (Photos)

Marine Layer is now open at 4803 Bethesda Avenue at Bethesda Row. The San Francisco-based apparel company uses sustainable beechwood pulp to make "absurdly soft" custom fabrics. Like Bonobos and Warby Parker, Marine Layer started as an internet business before entering the bricks-and-mortar retail world. The new Bethesda shop has a minimalist, pop-up aesthetic, save for the retro logo mural across the back wall.

Nice to see a new store. They look like a very responsive and sustainable company. I believe they accept donated clothes for recycling and offer a small discount on new purchased if you bring old tee shirts when you shop.

It’s called their RE-SPUN program. Bring them up to 5 tee shirts and get $5 off per shirt on your purchase. The also accept additional tee shirts, beyond the first 5, and will recycle them for you, keeping them out of landfills.

Now you're reporting on something good. Looks like a really nice store.

$45 for a T-shirt! (at least on their website). Sure is expensive to feel good about yourself
